Proverbs 4: 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. (NIV)
My heart goes out to those who have a past that they are not proud of. I know there is discouragement and there is sorrow about what has happened and if you could, you would go back and change things. Yet that is not what God has for us. We cannot go back and undo the wrongs we have done. We cannot go back and correct this or that. We simply cannot travel over time. But that is ok. God is the God of the second chance. God is also the God of the “Don’t look back.” Lot’s wife did it and she became a pillar of salt. But I also want to point out that since God is the God of the second chance, that regardless of your past and no matter what you have done, God longs to use you in a mighty way. There may be consequences for what you have done, but there nothing that you could have done that would cause God to not want to use you in His service and in His purpose. So, how do we avoid looking back and how do we avoid the distractions on the sidelines?
