Then, if you're serious about getting into a band, find your passion and work on mastering it. Too many people waste time joining bands without the skills needed and they never grow because they don't take the time to learn and explore what they are playing.

I don't think he was necessarily trying to offend you or anyone else; IMHO he's given you some excellent advice. It's generally a good idea to be professional in the way you go about finding bandmates and marketing yourself as a musician-- this does include using good English, proper grammar and capitalization, etc.-- even if you're not looking to play music professionally...

i would continue to seek God's face, and let him bring the right people your way... It isn't a bad idea to get word out there that you are looking, but you first better have an idea of what you are looking for, and what direction you are going in. Turst me, there are hundreds of people looking to "play" in a band... you might get what you don't really want...

After that, I would publicize a little, and try and get some shows... a great place to start is purevolume.com... its cool, and free too...

I have a page there if you want to check it out...

Attitude is often times more critical then technical skill. There are a lot of talented people out there, both in the secular world, as well as the world of Christian music. Too many of them are hard to work with or have issues, and as a result, they wonder why they are not making progress.

I started playing in a secular band at age 15, with a bunch of folks who were much older and wiser. They instilled the proper attitude, and that ofen times, attitude will get you much further in the musical profession than will technical skill. This is not to say sloppiness or poor technical ability is acceptable, its not. But the fanciest and most accurate performance will only very rarely compensate for a bad attitude.

Simple things make a difference... both amongst your band members, and others. Remember, your witness goes well beyond showtime, and God may put you in situations where union guys, promotors, riggers, and even other band members need to hear with word of Christ.
