Something that struck me odd....

I've never done drugs or been premiscious..and this was even before I gave my life to Jesus. I think He has always had a hand on my life. To be honest...I'm not even curious. I'm content with my life as it is and Jesus is by and large the reason for that contentment. God bless.

Well I think part of it is because it's kind of a silly question. You're saying you haven't done or thought about something because of something else. How many times a day do people just make those statements? How many times a day will someone, on the other hand, say they did something in my past and now I've found something else? The fact of the matter is, unless a question is asked or something specifically brings it up, I don't think most people regularly bring up experiences or thoughts they haven't had.

I don't really take Bill Maher seriously. He is a smart aleck and pokes insulting jokes at people of faith all the time for, apparently, shock value. But he did pose one very curious and thought-provoking question.

It seems that people who never tried certain things but are tempted are eaten alive inside with curiosity. Once they do it, even though they committed a sin, they know what doing that is like and move on. Not all of them, I undestand, but a good score. It just never seems the other way.

I don't understand your point. Maybe it's because you're using Bill Maher as an example. Just his making that statement indicates that he understands nothing about why any of us may come to Christ. It isn't the outward 'stuff' that we do, it's a 'heart' thing. I never smoked, used drugs, drank alcohol, was promiscuous, etc. So what? I came to Christ because I needed His grace so badly. I cussed like a sailor and I was someone who would've jacked mean people, and scared the nonsense outta them and enjoyed it. Bullies and injustices ticked me off and I could bring someone to their knees, and in tears, the bigger the better. No mercy.

Yet it's that very thing...MERCY and God's inexplicable grace that won my heart. Cuz deep inside, I knew I was lost. When I saw genuine kindness in someone, it just did a number on my heart. God, shining through that dear soul, won my heart.

So I guess we all got 'stuff', eh? Most of the time it's 'hidden'. It's in the heart. And that's what God is after.

No, I don't have any curiousity about drinking, using drugs, promiscuity, etc. It's bondage, and it's sad.

...by the way, I still don't get the point of your thread. Forget Bill Maher's 'thoughts'. What are yours?

well the guy is just wrong....
there are people who could say the latter.

like my mom for example, the worst thing that ladies ever done is carry some beer into a theater in her pocket book for some friends, she isnt the least bit sexually premiscuous, you couldnt make her commit a crime if you threatened her life... and id have never known or suspecting her to do what she did... unless she told us for some reason, she is one holy woman if you ask me. according to the standards of Bill Maher anyway.

and the simple truth is, nobody is born saved so your gonna sin and then come to Jesus... never sinning becuase of Jesus isnt an option.

and the truth is, id have done alot of things that i didnt and dont do... becuase of Jesus. but being saved doesnt make people perfect, it doesnt and was never meant too.

well shoot, look at me... im 22 and im a virgin... ive never commited anything worse than traffic violations... i guess the worst thing ive ever done is look at porn. never done any drugs, never been drunk....

and it is all becuase of my faith...
becuase ive had several chances to make it all happen... shoot even last night there was really attractive girl outside my door who was really drunk and she kept trying to talk to me... and im not a Vin Diesel. but as drunk as she was... she wouldnt have cared much i dont think... but nope, im a Christian.

Nobody who is a Christian announces their departure from the flesh. It's just expected. I wonder what Bill Maher was trying to imply with that statement. I've been a Christian all my life and I have no desire for things that ruin people's lives and offend me.

I don't know of a single person who has truly known Jesus in his or her heart and wants to depart from it to end up on Jerry Springer.
