I don't know whats so confusing about this. Lynching was a form of torture and murder used primarily to punish and oppress African Americans. Using it in the political context is more than a little insensitive to the black community as it cheapens what was a bloody and vicious action.

20 years ago the black community had a lot less of a voice than it does today, but that doesn't mean it wasn't wrong to use it back then either, just that today people feel able to actually speak out about things like this, and expect to be listened to.

That listening part can't be stressed enough. People on the GOP side continue to refuse to listen to African Americans, and prefer to tell them what they should and shouldn't be allowed to care about. Perhaps that might be why Trump got a pitiful 8% of the black vote in 2016?

Because it is Trump

Plain and simple

It makes him look bad, so we have to scream at the top of our lungs about it.

You approved of Biden when he said it, therefore you approve of Donald when he says it.

No outcry for Biden, Nadler or McDermott, perfectly acceptable to the media and their handlers in the Democratic Party

- but all screaming about Trump.

Your approval of the use of the term is noted.

I think you better explain then why members of the black community who were in Congress used the term themselves speaking about the Clinton impeachment? You make it seem like they were always against the use of the term. Something here you all better watch. Doesn't seem they and the rest of the Dems were opposed to the use of the word at all.

Got anything to add to the topic of the thread, or are you here just for little ole me?

I'm noting that the Right approves of the term... and why shouldn't they?

Then you agree it was perfectly acceptable when the Democrats were using the term lynching.
That’s not an answer to my question. You said it makes him look bad. How, if there are people in this thread arguing it was perfectly acceptable?

Yup and the Party of the Democrats had no issue with it either, that is until a Republican used it. Perhaps because members of their party, not too long ago supported the idea literally.

The Democratic member and their minions in the media are attempting to make him look bad (see any of the left newscasts) as part of their partisan propaganda. All while summarily ignoring the numbers of times when they themselves used the very same phrase. Repeatedly.

Have Republicans not matured, evolved or changed in their views at all in the span of a generation?

By showing him saying offensive things? That's an incredible ability they have to control the president's own actions and words.

Or it could be people from 30 years ago are no longer relevant to any discussions we're having about the current president.
