So...how often do you...skip?

I try not to skip any classes without a good reason (being sick). In my program, you really can't afford to miss a class. I'm a paramedic student BTW. So far, I haven't missed a class the entire time I've been in the program.

I'm impressed. It's good to know that a future paramedic is taking her stuff so seriously though

Back in college I skipped a few classes now and then, though it was always for some legitimate reason. The only exceptions were two times when I skipped calculus 2 (because I had taken it in high school and already knew the material), and once when I skipped organic chemistry (because I decided to hear the campus preacher instead). In retrospect, I wish I hadn't even done this.

But so far in graduate school, I haven't skipped a single class yet! Hopefully I can keep it up until I'm done with the classwork portion of my PhD.

Last semester I skipped class a couple of times. But that was only because I had already finished all the assignments for the section we were on and the teacher said I could skip. (It was computer class. Teaching us how to use Microsoft Office. Super easy class, got an A+ no problems.)

This semester I admit, I have skipped all but one of my classes at least once. On Mondays and Wednesdays I have Intro Bio at 8:00 AM. Then nothing until 11:00 Algebra. (Monday's I have 1:00 Bio lab.) Tues & Thurs I have 9:30 Teaching Diverse populations and at 11:00 General Psychology.

My hubby and I carpool, and sometimes if he has to work a late shift on Mon or Wed, then we will sleep in and I will skip Bio. The teacher never takes attendance anyway. Last week I skipped Psych and Algebra. but had permission from the teachers to skip. We had some activities going on at the college that I was involved with.

Other than that, the only other time I have skipped class was when I was in my car accident (minor, just a little fender bender, but still went to the hospital to make sure nothing was wrong and stayed home that day.) And the day I found out that my nephew had died. I was just a mess and couldn't concentrate in class. I managed to make it through my first class, but knew that I wasn't going to be able to make it through my second class. So I told the teacher and skipped class. Went to the school library and talked to one of the tutors that I've gotten to be good friends with. (My nephew wasn't even a month old, and I hadn't even gotten to meet him because I live 2,000 miles away from my entire family. It still tears me apart... It was completely unexpected..........)

I don't like to skip class, because then I don't know what material was covered and what will be on the test or anything like that. I screwed around too much in high school and didn't get the kinds of grades I was capable of. I can't afford to goof off in college and fail classes. (Failed 2 of them last semester and have to retake them still....)

For my undergraduate and credential work, I never missed a class.

I'm not far into my graduate work, but I intend to do the same.

I really don't see the point in paying tens of thousands of dollars for an education that I'm not going to fully participate in.

In my nursing program we are only allowed to miss a max of 2 days in each class before we get in trouble (ie get kicked out of the program). Because of this, I try to have a really good reason to skip; I skipped one of my classes because I was sick and another one because I just didn't want to go, which wasn't a really good reason but that class was a breeze for me.

I don't make a habit of it but sometimes you just have to take a break.

I hardly ever skip, the only class this semester that I skipped was because I was leaving to go to Berlin and was taking a exam early that I was going to miss and the only time they would let me do it was during my morning class. My freshman year I probably skipped 3 classes total. A lot of my classes are small and we have the same people in a lot of them so the teacher knows who is missing.

I skipped to of my classes yesterday. I just didn't feel up to it. After my first class, I went home and said "they canceles class dumb teacher" I was just to tired and felt so out of it, I prayed because I felt really empty and anxious inside. Felt so much better. Now for today, I really don't want to class either, but I have two test today and have to turn in a research essay. I love english class, but it was pretty boring.

I always try to attend, whether or not they're taking attendance lists. When I'm ill or there's some sort of public transportation malfunction, I send an e-mail beforehand. The only classes I've skipped without good cause were the ones that were just...useless. There have been a few of those.
