  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's actually very usual. Through adolescence and as a young adult, many people go through a shift in their sleep cycle which becomes more nocturnal. This results in difficulty falling asleep at night and tiredness in the mornings. You will grow out of it eventually.
For me, I generally let myself drift to nocturnal (since at the moment I don't have much to do during the day) but if I know I need to get up early for something on a given day, I'll sleep in the day before, stay up all night, and be awake for the rest of the next day as well. If you don't have the fortitude for that (although trust me, once you do it enough you can go two-three days without sleep before you really feel it) you can always talk to your doctor about sleep meds.

Havent talkd to my doc about it yet...I'll do that tomorrow when I go for mycheck up.
Idk if i'll be growing out of any time soon tho. I've been doing this since I was little. I never took naps. I've gone days with out sleeping, even if i have to be up super early i might only get 1-2 hours of sleep. On night that my boyfriend stays over and I have to wake him up at 4 for pt I'll usually only be just about to go to sleep when I'm waking him up. I'm also an extreamly light sleeper at times but around 7-10 i can usually get a good few hours with out waking up.

My mom worked 13 years on night shift as an RN when I was little, now for the last 3-4 years my dads worked night shift. Could thast have any thing to do with it? Also my moms had some MAJOR health issues and I've been the one helping her out mostly lately as well.

if insomnia has been an ongoing issue for years, i would go see the doctor as it very well could be linked with some underlying medical issue.

Otherwise there are lifestyle factors which may be affecting your sleep patters, such as diet, too much activity before bed, not enough activity during the day. artifical lighting playing with your brain chemistry, using your bedroom for any activities other than sleep, etc...

here are some good tips for treating insomnia at home: HowStuffWorks "Home Remedy Treatments for Insomnia"

but as i said, it can't hurt to discuss this with your doctor to see if there isn't something else going on.

i have been having sleeping problems since i was around 19 (23 now) and i had a few tricks to get me to sleep, like watching the same episode of a program every night before going to sleep. But when this didnt work i did take the very occasional sleeping pill (only when i knew i needed to sleep as i had a big day the next day) but this so far hasnt solved my problem, but does work. I believe that this problem will go away. To tell you the truth i have made it work to my advantage. If i cant sleep, i just do something productive and make the most of the time rather than complain about not sleeping. I eventually get tired around 530-6 am....

You are not alone, and i personally dont think its a problem. I just have an over active mind that doesnt get tired (i do feel physically tired at the normal times like 12pm 1am etc...)

I think the last time I had a good night sleep, involved passing out after drinking far far too much (was still sober enough to walk home and get into bed mind, delayed effects and all.)

Or there were the anti depressants a year and abit ago, which made me sleep like a baby, but unfortunately I had to stop taking them because they also made me fall asleep at 4pm everyday and sleep till 9am.

You might want to avoid a lot of visual stimulation like tv or video games in the last half hour before bed. And caffeine- chocolate can keep you up for hours at night.

Oh so thats why i am not sleeping at night haha. I put on an episode of something and sit in bed with a massive choclate bar and my bed time hot coffee lol
