  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Interesting. Neither of my parents are night owls but my brother and I both are. The only person I can think of is my grandfather on my mom's side -- he always stayed up really late.

I used to be a night owl, but since I graduated from college and started working I became more and more of a morning person.

Typically I have to be sick to sleep any time past 9 AM even on Saturday morning. On the weekdays and Sunday I have to get up at 6:30 AM. Weekdays for work, Sunday for church.

You're a poser night owl. A FAKE FAKER FAKEY MCFAKEPANTS!!!

REAL night owls are ALWAYS night owls! I get up at 6:30am a lot of days, too, to make you breakfast. Then I stay up all day and I still go to bed later than you.

Yeah, the work world does that to us all! I know that when I worked full-time I had to adjust to that early hours life.

I would tend to agree ...for us it shows up on vacations when we do have a choice. My husband always will stay up late during that time and then have to readjust for going back to work. He'll take off 2 weeks and it takes him the first few days to get used to not working and getting up early.

Perhaps you could add your nicknames to that other thread. You two are so cute! It's nice.

Sleeping patterns in our house are weird. If I don't have to get up in the morning I can stay up ultra late. But since my alarm goes off at 5:20 am (to get kids up and off to school), I'm generally asleep by 11. My husband comes home, eats dinner and falls asleep by 9:30, but then he is up at 2 for an hour or so, then back to bed until his alarm goes off at 6 (but he often ignores it and sleeps til 6:30.

The kids, being teens, seem to be able to run on little to no sleep some days. Other days they want to sleep the clock around.

I'm more of the night owl. I would love to go to bed together though, most of the time. But DH has to go to bed early, usually, b/c he leaves for work at 4:45am. When we lived in PA and he went in at 6, we went to bed at the same time every night. As our kids have gotten older, and our 4th is also a night owl, I tend to be the one to stay up until everyone is asleep. I don't totally mind though, it's my quiet time and I enjoy it. I just have to learn some better self-control and not stay up TOO last sometimes lol

My husband can and does stay up later than I do, but because I have a hard time falling asleep without him and he enjoys the time with me we go to bed at the same time. I try to stay up late for him, but by 10 I'm usually useless.
Tonight, however, we are staying up late because we are waiting on the dogs blankets to dry. Yes, our dogs have blankets. And, if they aren't tucked in, the chihuahua's will complain all night. Which isn't a problem, but it will annoy the german shepherd, who is loud enough to annoy us all night. I kid you not, we tuck our puppies in at night. Man, we really need a kid...

I love going to bed early. Like 9 is ideal, but on a rough day, 8 works too. I don't always get there though, because my husband doesn't always get home from work until 7 sometimes.

He insists that he can't fall asleep when he comes to bed early, so 10 is usually the earliest for him. He's more of a night owl, but he tends to catch up on sleep by sleeping in on the weekends.

so since we've been married for 8 months, we've probably only gone to bed at the same time about 10 times.

I am a night owl, if I get to sleep by midnight that is an early night for me. Husband is sleeping between 8 - 10, depending on if he came home from work and napped.

My children have always had bedtimes.. 10 pm on weekdays, midnight on weekends for this school year. My daughter is 17 and usually asleep by 10 weekday or weekend..she likes her sleep. Now my son, who is 14, is showing tendencies of being a night owl. Him actually being asleep on weekdays by 10 has not been happening, more like 10:30-11. He will stay up til like 1 on weekends.

I normally go to bed by 10:00.
It depends on what kind of a day my husband has had to what time he falls asleep.
He works outside and if it's been a rough day he can fall asleep in his chair any where between 8 or 9. But normally he stays awake till 12, 1 or 2 in the morning. a lot of times he doesn't even come to bed at all.

blythe ann, what a cute and funny post. I am a dog mommie too so I understand. Once in a while my night owl 5 year old daughter will sneak into our room. Since we don't let her into our bed she will kick our Shephard off his dog bed and try to sleep there. The dog will then go around to Daddy's side of the bed and stare at him till he wakes up to kick her off his bed so he can go to sleep! LOL it does not get better with kids, just more fun and less sleep!

it is 4 AM right now. My husband and I had some fun (including some silliness and tickling) in bed and then he drifted off at about 2:30 AM... so we're both night owls, I'm just worse. I cannot wake up without help anytime before noon, and by help, I mean him waking me up. I sleep through the loudest alarm clocks. One time my grandfather dragged me out of the bedroom, blankets and all, set me in the middle of the front lawn, set the sprinklers on, and it was 3 PM. I had been asleep since 11 PM the previous night... and I still didn't wake up.

If I try to go to bed at a decent hour I'll guaranteed be awake for 3 to 6 hours just trying to get to sleep. Unfortunately for me, I'm extremely sensitive to any sort of medication, and melatonin lost its effect on me long ago. Even if I do manage to get to sleep at 10 PM, I'll still sleep until whenever my husband or the heat in the house (we're in an older singlewide mobile home) wakes me up... which fortunately is starting to happen earlier now that summer is here. Perhaps I'll have a dream of getting through my early morning Statistics class without using a mascara wand as a pencil because I'm dead tired and can't think straight...

So I tucked in my hubby at 2:30 AM and said I'd go join him when I got tired, so far that's not happening.

DH works shift work, 12 hour shifts, days, nights... 7am to 7 pm or 7 pm to 7am. So, the sleep schedule really depends on what he's working. We both could probably be considered "night owls" before this. I am easier to get up in the morning than he is, my job is to usually feed the meowing cats at 5-6 am.
