I recently began playing Skyrim and was really impressed with the gameplay and expansiveness of the world. A lot of the game play reminds me of Lord of the Rings, and has a number of references that appear to reference the Roman Empire, and other mixed historical empires and races. One thing that bothered me the other night was the Abandoned House in Markarth. When you talk to someone outside the house and offer to help investigate inside, the doors lock and you hear a voice encouraging you to kill the man you came to help. The man attacks and whether you want to or not, you are forced to kill him to survive. Ultimately, you end up in the basement at an altar and a makevolent voice tells you to find a certain priest and bring him back so he can kill him. When I exited the house, I chose to ignore the quest. I did eventually find the priest but didn't follow him back after setting him free. I didn't like the fact that the success of that particular quest was based on something opposite to the generally good nature of your character. In general, my impression is that your character is there to serve the general good and save the kingdom and other NPCs. Anybody else feel the same way about this particular quest or have any thoughts to share?
