Actually, to be honest, I don't really know a lot about my own backyard's rock bands...But yeah, I can tell you, Brisbane is not far from the NSW Border

-Bernard Fanning (from Powderfinger, he's just gone solo and he went to my school).
-Savage Garden (though they've broken up, Darren Hayes (the lead) has gone solo)
-Midnight Oil (a lot of people liked them, though not my type of music)

The rest I can't think of. But at least that can help answer the man's question.
