  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hope you don't mind but I purused the rest of your web site. You guys like it in the bonnies to. Jan and I live in a cedar log cabin on 20 acres in the deep woods in the missouri foothills. Jan hasn't lived here very long, only about 2 weeks since we were married in Ogden UT on Oct 1st, but she loves it here.

I had horses about 4 years ago but they tore up my fences and made "gopher" holes in my pasture so they have since found "greener pastures"

I don't raise anything now execpt grass and trees. I feed the local criters from a garden I put in every year. If I don't get out there fast enough to get the veggies they will strip it bare. Aluminum pie tins work somewhat but they ignore them after awhile. Need to read my "Backwoods Home" mag again and learn some new tricks.

Congratulations on the wedding....

Yep we love it here. We can't see any of our neighbors until you get out in the pasture. We have 17 acres. There is like a half a mile between us and the neighbors below us, woods across from us too.
You could say I counted the chickens before they hatched. She's up to 6 puppies now.

Thanks

Off of Hwy 50 about 5 miles. About 35 miles east of Jefferson City. 10 miles east of Linn Mo.

Mt. Sterling area?

I just drove by there Sunday on 50, on my way to the Lake. My in-laws live in Leslie which is right next to Gerald (a "bit" west of you). My SIL had a teacher's conference at Tan Tar A, and didn't want to drive by herself, so I went with her and went shopping while she conferenced. Driving 50 that way is one of the most beautiful drives in the state - my hubby and I have property in Leslie and hope to build our dream home one of these days.

Small world...

This town near me had a lot of Oktoberfests activities going on all last week and The Daily Show from Comedy Central came. I guess they are planning on making fun of the town of having Oktoberfest with no beer......... The town is dry... Its a German town founded by a German.....

I'm sure Comedy Central is thinking "what's the point?" I mean if you have Oktoberfest, beer is the common denominator ain't it?

Our fest in Missouri-----well one of them anyway. We just had an Octoberfest at the Saxon memorial in Fronha MO. First seminary in Mo. Forerunner of Concordia Seminary in St.louis.

This is one in Herman Mo for the whole month.

We firmly believe in the song "In heaven there is not beer, that's why we drink it here"

I've only been to one Octoberfest and I really enjoyed it. Anyone know if any good ones are going to be held in Arizona this year (Preferably cheap ones. )? THere's nothing like German sausage, sauerkraut, and some good beer to wash it down with!

No Oktoberfests for the Lutherans in this area. . .for obvious reasons. . .other things are more important. . .but it's not getting us down. . .the faith down here is awesome. . .it can be felt everywhere.

I'm tired. Went to a church picnic yesterday, had to help set up and clean up too so we were there more than half a day. Went to my church this morning then had a Reformation service at my mothers church for the our district. They have a pipe organ, they had this organist from florida really had that organ cranking, it was so loud you really couldn't tell what he was playing sometimes and had a hard time picking the tune out for the hymns.
