  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I tend to keep the TV on just to have "noise" rather than having things totally silent.

I do watch a lot of Disney shows. You'll never get the "kid" out of me

TV. I am hopelessly addicted to CSI. And when I have the opportunity (if I even remember when it's on), I like to watch Stargate SG1. Other than those, I rarely actually watch shows; much like Bridget, it is something on in the background.

Why Lutherans Like Coffee So Much

In 1517, the first "java jolt" occured when coffee was introduced to Europe.

Oh, my sister has another "disease."

Abnormal condition of blue hair is "cyanotrichosis."

Hmm. . maybe this is for all those "slide girls" out there. . .

One of my favorites premiered last night. HOUSE with Hugh Laurie. He plays a diagnostician who with his team of young doctors tries to figure out what is killing the guest star of the week. Hugh has a very ascerbic wit in his demeanor. His character is addicted to painpills because of an accident he was a victim to a few years ago. They brought on Sela Ward to play a former love interest but also as someone who will be able to Spar with him from time to time.

I also like CSI and it's counterparts Miami and New York. And the one in the NAVY called NCIS with Mark Harmon. Tivo is a good invention and I think it had to have been created by a man because only a man would have thought of an invention to pause TV for Bathroom breaks and have a fast forward to get through the commercials up to 3 times faster than Video tape.

House is my favoritest show in the whole world. My husband is a Hugh Laurie fan from way back when the guy was doing British comedy stuff. So it's one of the few shows we watch together. He also tolerates CSI, though he leaves the room when it gets too gory. I think that's why he DOESN'T like NCIS.

I like my lead characters to be sarcastic, witty, and not very nice, which explains why I like House and NCIS so much. I like my friends the same way, minus the "not very nice" bit.

My mom turned my wife and I onto CSI. We were wrapping Christmas presents during the second season. I was talking to my mom on the phone and she went on about getting ready to watch CSI and how good it was. So my wife and I turned it on...and we haven't missed an episode since. We also have caught the entire 1st season and the first few months of the 2nd season in reruns. It's some good stuff....CSI Miami and CSI NY aren't too bad either, but CSI is the best of the three.

Peace.

Maybe we should have the HOUSE fan club. I didn't know he was British until recently. He was the Dad in the Stuart Little movies and was a bad guy in Disney's 101 Dalmations.

He was the dad in the Stuart Little movies? Wow, I hadn't noticed. Interesting tidbit of information.

PS. I REALLY like the name of this thread.

Yeah, when I mentioned to my husband (fiance at the time) that I was all over this new show last spring and happened to mention Hugh Laurie, he just about did a spit take... he's most familiar with him being in "Blackadder" and "Fry and Laurie". Chris is a big British TV fan... especially the more sarcastic & dry stuff.

Did you see the episode where House was phoning people at like 3 AM and used a horribly fake British accent? Hehe, that one was priceless.

Chris also rather likes Monty Python. I'm not sure if I like them or if they disturb me too much LOL.
