  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Has anyone seen Sideways? My niece and I went this past weekend to see this movie. I thought it was very funny. It was a little slow in the beginning, but it sure did pick up. It's not a slapstick type comedy, but very humorous in an intelligent kinda way. And there are some very poignant moments. There are also some eyebrow raising moments.... But overall a good movie. Comments?

Haven't heard of this one, what's it about?

It's about two men, one of which is getting married. And they go on a wine tasting tour in California the week before the wedding. It's about the things that happen during that week. I know movie about wine tasting doesn't sounds so good, but it's surprisingly a good movie.

I absolutely HATED the movie.

I liked the way it started out. It seemed promising. But it quickly went down hill.

One of the two main characters is getting married soon, so he decides he needs to have sex with as many women as possible while he is "free" (like marriage is some sort of prison)

He has frequent sex with a woman he meets in a bar, then goes back and gets married like nothing ever happened.

I wished I could have gotten my money back

I am a cinema manager and I would not recommend anyone, especially one who claims to be a follower of the Lord Jesus, see this movie. It has vulgar language from beginning to end, two naked sex scenes and one scene of a naked man (full frontal) running down the street. The comments of some on this thread show just how desensitized this culture has become to garbage like this. The film could have been made without the foul language and the sex scenes added nothing to the story. It won the Oscar for best writing (adaption from another source) but that does not means it is worthy of our support.

Had you gone to a theatre owned by the company I work for you could have gotten your money back. We had walk-outs on this film at one of our theatres.

I wonder why you are a cinema manager, revrobor! Aren't you responsible for the films that are shown there??

He does, but does the movie condone it? Or is it really saying that this is an empty way of life?

The film are booked at our corporate headquarters and the local managers have no control over what is booked.

I don't know why everyone thinks this movie was so good. I am a pretty tough film critic, and this film was one of the worst I have ever seen. Let me explain:

The movie starts out with the main character lying. Then, the sleazy bum steals money from his mom. And if his financial situation was so bad, how could he afford a hobby like wine? Wine is a very expensive hobby.

So, then the guys get to wine country, and they cease to do anything. The sad thing is, nothing happens until the one guy starts cheating. And then, you can't really feel sorry for him because he is low life scum. And the poor asian girl got treated like dirt. I mean, there was no reason to like any of the guys.

And don't get me wrong. I love good movies. And I love good wine. But this movie was so boring, I can't believe it was nominated for Best Picture. And Paul Giamatti was NOT robbed by not being nominated. His performance could not compare to any of the five nominees.
