Recently I have come to question myself on an issue of morality. I am a very strong Christian and I hold the values of Christ close to my heart. As such I abhor evil in all its forms. To me as an African, like as well as much of the non-western world the greatest evil in this world today in terms of Africa, Middle east, Asian, Latin America… ect (all the non developed world) is the united states of America. It today exists as an evil and negative presence and effect on most of the world and it’s people and we have all suffered greatly because of it.
Now here is the moral issue, I have recently applied (and was granted) a work visa for the US. After going and working there for awhile I will be able to gain citizenship which is what I want to do. How ever I lied on my application and I lied as to the entire reason I want to become an American citizen. It is not because I am looking for a better life, but because I want to do everything possible (and non-violent/not illegal) to bring down the American government and help ends its oppression of the workers of the world. As a citizen of South Africa there is little I can do towards this, but as an American citizen I will be much more valuable and able to help bring down America.

What I question though, was it moral of me to lie on my application and in my intentions in the US… even though what I am trying to do is righteous and for the betterment of the world and mankind? Is it right and Christian of me to lie and sacarfice some of my values to end the slaughter of millions by America, the oppression of billions and the entirty of all the other negative effects it has on the world?

I hope we are talking non-violent destruction.

And short of you being the President of the USA, you will have very little power to bring down the USA.

We have very little individual power to affect the foriegn policy, save the President.

As far as lying it is immoral to lie, so yes you have done an immoral thing. No matter what the reason.

Like stealing food to survive, it's taking something that isn't yours. So its still wrong.

In the USA, you will be one of hundreds of millions of people. You will have an equal vote, and freedom of speech, but you won't have anymore sya then the next person.
I think if you had not lied, they might have not let you in, for fear that you wouldn't have been truthful about the non-violent part.

Good luck, and thank you for following the rules and attempting to enter our great country legally. Please come in and do your best to make money, because that is the power in the USA. The more you have, the more politicians listen. But recognize, that doing so will be
following the American dream, and supporting the goverment that you oppose.(through tax dollars.)

We do try to get fair and just politicians. But we seem to be having trouble finding good ones lately.
Unfortunately, you will not be eligable to be president.

How are you planning on bringing down the American government? And how will becoming an American citizen help you to achieve this (apart from your one extra vote)?

Lying, obviously, is a sin.

The Bible tells us that we are to have respect and honor for our government and submit to them so, to commit sedition, possibly treason against it, is also a sin.

So much for your "I'm a very strong Christian" claim.

You might want to keep in mind that both sedition and treason are punishable by death in this country.

To say nothing of the fact that he claims to be "a very strong Christian", while bragging about his sin and not appearing the least bit remorseful or repentant.

I call Poe, but I still think it is good to talk about.

As an American, I think that it is unjust for companies to take advantage of 3rd world country labor, or to sell in the States what is made outside of it under working conditions that are legal in the country, but legal in the US.

For example, Texas Instruments employs Mexican women to make their products in Mexico, where the company does not have to follow US safety precautions, allow for breaks, benefits, etc. As a result, many of the women were handling the material without protection. Babies were being born with little or no brain, and there was a large increase in disease from the waste dumped into the water of the area.

It is not unAmerican to want to stop such things, but the opposite. Jefferson said that when the government stops working for the people, it is not only their right, but their duty, to overthrow the government.

We no longer trust Washington, the CIA, and there continues to be protest against a war that the people don't want.

People are growing angry with our government.
Listen to this:

It's the growing sentiment.
We believe that as a people living in the United States, it is our responsibility to resist the injustices done by the government in our names...Another world is possible, and we pledge to make it real.
Bless you, Saul Williams

A more interesting question, maybe, is how we should respond to our scruples being used as weapons against us. If we face an enemy with a 'kill the children first' policy, what's the best thing to do? It seems likely that holding onto our disinclination to murder innocents may guarantee our own destruction.

The message your actions send to me is that you must not care very much for your "morals" since you are sacrificing them so easily. You are also not being a good representative of your country (or immigrants in general). Are all South Africans liars? Do all immigrants want to destroy my country?

Thank you for confirming for positions on immigrants to my country though
