The bible teaches that from eternity God foreloved certain people, and that He therefore sent His Son to die for them. As we have seen Jesus actually did die for them. He did not just pretend to take away their sins. He did not theoretically go to hell for them. He actualy did bear their sins and take their guilt away. It is either-or. Either Jesus saved them or He did not. Either He was and actual substitute or He was not. The Bible teaches He was.

God's timing is infallible. He takes every factor and contingency into account. We often want to pluck unripe fruit, but He will not be pressured into premature action. If He in His wisdom delays the answer to our prayer, that delay will in the long run prove to be for our good (Hebrews 12:10). I love the Trinity. Does that sound strange to you? For most people, it should sound strange. Think about it: when was the last time you heard anyone say such a thing? We often hear "I love Jesus" or "I love God," but how often does anyone say, "I love the Trinity"? You even hear "I love the cross" or "I love the Bible," but you don't hear "I love the Trinity." Why not? Someone might say, "Well, the Trinity is a doctrine, and you don't love doctrines." But in fact we do. "I love justification" or "I love the second coming of Christ" would make perfect sense... So why don't we talk about loving the Trinity? Most Christians do not understand what the term means and have only a vague idea of the reality it represents...we confess how little we understand about the Trinity by how little we talk about it and how little emotion it evokes in our hearts.

I have thought, if God had left me alone, and had not touched me by His grace, what a great sinner I should have been! I should have run to the utmost lengths of sin, dived into the very depths of evil, nor should I have stopped at any vice or folly, if God had not restrained me. I feel that I should have been a very king of sinners, if God had let me alone. I cannot understand the reason why I am saved, except upon the ground that God would have it so. I cannot, if I look ever so earnestly, discover any kind of reason in myself why I should be a partaker of Divine grace. If I am not at this moment without Christ, it is only because Christ Jesus would have His will with me, and that will was that I should be with Him where He is, and should share His glory. I can put the crown nowhere but upon the head of Him whose mighty grace has saved me from going down into the pit.
