I promise I won't "trash other versions of scripture just because I don't like them."
How's that?
I think he is hinting that he doesn't consider the other versions of the bible as really the bible. the KJB is in his opinion the only bible. So he can mock the NIV et al and yet say he isn't trashing "other versions".I did, not getting what I am missing, I read it carefully three times now, where am I messing up?
The KJB is the only Bible for our time.
The other six had their targets as well.
For the record, I'm not so sure about #4 anymore.
Sorry, I should have been a little more thoughtful. For the record, I'm not so sure about #4 anymore.Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me!
There's a goofy site that has me "apparently believing" the following; and I want to set the record straight here:
Moses translated the first 25 chapters from English to Hebrew.
The truly scary thing, AV, is that it seems you really do believe that. Which makes any kind of intelligent debate, well, difficult.
Alternatively, your whole identity is a mask for a group of atheists posting ridiculous statements as a joke, intending to discredit Christianity (I'm increasingly starting to believe this). That would make intelligent debate difficult too.
But he had Genesis 1-25, written in English, and translated it into Hebrew.
Thank you! I try my best.Aside of the twisting and turning and side stepping questions, I believe AV is genuine... He is the real deal.
I agree. AV wouldn't be near as entertaining, if he wasn't the real deal.
He wouldn't be nearly so entertaining were he not so intelligent too, which is what makes him a very interesting enigma in my book. That's kinda why I like him too. The humor is rather endearing after awhile IMO.
I'm not sure I would call it "intelligence", but granted, most of us are intelligent in some fashion or the other. Some people have a need to learn the best way to protect their beliefs and AV has found his.
An enigma? I find AV very predictable.
It's still an enigma to me why intelligent "Christians" intertwine their love of Christ and their faith in Christ with scientific viewpoints related to the age of the universe, etc. The Bible itself cannot be the only issue because Catholics don't have such conflicts, nor do the majority of Christians.
The YEC belief system never really made any sense to me, not even as a kid. My family was "into" science, and we embraced it. It would have never occurred to me to try to use the Bible to build a "scientific" view of the universe around me. I have no idea why people do that, even people with a great sense of humor.
FYI, that behavior isn't limited to 'religious' viewpoints, but the "motives" are more obvious in those circumstances and typically amounts to confirmation bias. In this case however, there's a direct religious/scientific conflict going on internally, and some constantly choose the religious viewpoint in spite of it's conflict with the scientific data.
When the conflict is related/limited to a debate between scientific viewpoints *without* religious overtones, its typically just obvious confirmation bias. There's something more going on however with YEC since there is a religious motive in there somewhere, one that doesn't actually make any sense from my perspective. My 'Christianity' is rooted in my love of Christ and my faith in the value of his teachings with respect to God. They have nothing to do with OT dogma, certainly nothing related to the OT which I'm then trying to convert into a "scientific" concept of the world around me.
I never said the psychological need was limited to religious beliefs. It can involve, belief in being abducted by aliens, belief that 9/11 was the work of the government, belief that your child is perfect, when there is evidence that that is not the case. And you could go on and on and on......
