If you read 1 John, you will have a better grasp of the security we enjoy. Yes, we are to stop sinning, but if that meant that it were now impossible for us to sin, why would we need an advocate? We will not be without sin until we are departed from this world.
There should be a remission of sin, however. THe H.S. indewlls us and enables us to follow the commandment to love G_d with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as ourself. If there is no remission, no repentant nature, how can one feel secure?
Do I sin every day? Yes I do. Through the doctrine of Justification, though, I have a standing before G_d that is as immaculate as that of His son, even though I am not without sin.
If I understood everything the Bible had to say perfectly, that's when I'd get worried.
And I will repeat the pleas of the others here. We may be a bunch of crabby, judgemental, angry Calvinists, but that's only until you get to know us! Ask away!
