• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Thanks Tad. My son has such issues with his vestibular system. He can be simply standing in the middle of a room and fall. It's amazing, really. He is hypsensitive and loves to spin. Sometimes I get ill just spinning him. He's seven and you have never seen such a look of joy as when he is on a really twisty, fast rollercoaster or in something that will spin him. He seriously won't stop spinning. You have to finally tell him enough.

His issues were not related to lack of being held though. He co-slept with us and I 'wore' him in a sling alot of the time. He very much likes to be held and always has. He's my snugglebug still.

Oh and I agree with what the article says about playgrounds. Fortunately our local playground has several contraptions that will spin along with swings and other movement activities for him.

By the way, God bless you Tad.

I have issues with these too...but mine is not from the lack of being held...this addresses strictly the sensory disorder...this disorder is common in the autistic spectrum...and autism is a nuerological disorder....our nervous system simple put is faulty wiring...it works intermittantly...

I too love roller coasters...they actually can put me to sleep if I ride them too long...because I find them relaxing...one of the few times I actually can relax...I can spin really fast and long on a merry go round and get up and walk in a straight line...I just don't seem to get dizzy...but the feeling that occurs inside my body is absolutely great....I love it. I am so glad you found this helpful...

bless ya back!!!!
