I used to be on an online site called Second Life. I thought it was a great place but it was not. There were many cruel people on the site and although everything looked beautiful it wasn't good. I miss the online site alot but I am glad to be off it, even though I miss it. It allowed me to walk around, dance, swim and do everything but there were no moderators on the site and there was no restriction in what could be done and there was alot of violence. Second Life looked very beautiful but wasnt. It was a dangerous place.

I've tried Second Life and really couldn't get past the complex avatar-customization. Plus, as much as I like those 3D chat environments, to be honest I never know what to say to people on those things. It's like picking up the phone and dialing a random number to speak with some random person I don't know from Adam, lol!

Have you tried IMVU? I'm on there, but again I rarely chat. Using a keyboard to navigate a real-time conversation with complete strangers just isn't my cup of tea. I basically just use the avatar to create head-shots for avatars on other social networks, like Facebook or forums.

Some examples:

I have tried IMVU but I could not get the hang of it. Your avatar is pretty I am not into gaming as much now because of my bad experience in Second Life. Do you like IMVU?

Thank you!

I like it, but again whenever I go in there it's merely to customize my avatar. If I enter any chat-rooms, I make sure they're empty first (which is hilarious because it kind of defeats the "chat" purpose of having 3D chat ). But the rooms can be nice; some are laid out like enchanted forests, mansions, beaches, etc. I'm in it more for the environment than I am for the chatting.

You'll probably find similar personalities on IMVU that are on Second Life, but I recall seeing rooms there that are set up like churches; Christians and those of other religions do seem to use the venue to connect. It's like the real world in that aspect, you'll find all kinds of people.

Again, though, I'm timid in the chatting department. It's likely an introvert thing on my part, though.

Thank you for telling me about your experience in IMVU. I understand liking a place for the environment. I can imagine IMVU has beautiful environments to sit in. Are you on any other sites like IMVU?

Not currently. I did try this one called Kaneva several years ago, but that didn't last long. For one, the avatars just had this flat, "dead person" look to their faces (probably the result of the designers trying to make them look too realistic; IMVU characters have a more animated look that, while not as realistic, seems less corpse-ish), and for another, my avatar would do this strange thing whenever I clicked on the "handshake" option: She would literally bend in half backwards. Nothing even close to a hand-shake, and just creepy. That lasted maybe a day.

(ETA: I just checked Kaneva's site and they're currently under reconstruction. Maybe they're fixing that "handshake" as we speak, lol!)

I did try Kaneva. I didnt like it so much. I think that I will be stopping gaming because I have been hurt alot on gaming sites. I think I just need to be on Christian sites because they are more safe and protected.

I tried Twinity today. I liked it but I don't like realistic faces on my avatars. I really found the site beautiful though other than that but I dont think its the right one for me because there is not that many people on it.

I still think about Second Life sometimes but I got badly hurt on that site. I was kidnapped and abused by someone I met on the site.
