I’m new here. I was raised Roman Catholic, but I am no longer attending Mass. I have a few issues with the RC Church, so I am hesitant to resume attendance. At the same time, I feel urged by the Holy Spirit to go back to church – SOME church. So now I’m searching for a new home, and want to learn more about the dogma of other churches. I presume I will be welcome here – not for debate but rather to learn. But I will probably be just dropping in from time to time as I explore other churches as well. Thanks for your patience with me.

Once God has opened your eyes, you need to seek Him diligently. Don't just start playing Church elsewhere. It is for your life that the LORD has brought you to a point like this.
I Samuel 12
24 Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.

Isaiah 55
6 ¶ Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

Jeremiah 29
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Joel 2
12 ¶ Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
We are told there are many roads to Heaven. Jesus Christ said there is only one.

John 14
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Feel free to ask questions. Feel free to learn and seek the LORD. a good place to start is here:

What can a Sinner do to be Saved?

Proverbs 3
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Don't count on getting another "second chance!"

Acts 17
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Thank you so much. I have already read in its entirety "What can a Sinner do to be Saved?" and it made perfect sense to me. Very sobering. I was so impressed with it that I did a google-search for 'Rolfe Barnard' and have already started reading "The Reality Of Hell" on this website. You have been a blessing to me in your post, and May God greatly reward you for it in Heaven.

The truth of God's holy scriptures has been systematically hidden over the last century. It is hard to find a Church where the truth is preached without apology, and the scriptures are believed as they are given.
There may be in a crowd a perfusion of hypocrites and mere professors, who come in just to hang upon the lips of man, to fill their heads with notions, opinions and views, whilst their hearts are destitute of the humbling grace of God.
Thomas Bradbury (1726−1790)

Someone remarked, "I cannot see this way of righteousness." I answer, No, and you never will until the Spirit of God convinces you of it!
Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892)

It is hard for a man to let go a hope of heaven, on which he hath once allowed himself to lay hold, and which he hath retained for a considerable time. True conversion is a rare thing; but that men should be brought off from a false hope of conversion, after they are once settled and established in it, and have continued in it for some time, is much more rare.
Jonathan Edwards (1703−1758)

During the last two or three generations the pulpit has given less and less prominence to doctrinal preaching, until today − with very rare exceptions − it has no place at all.
Arthur W. Pink (1886−1952)

At the bottom of that page with the sermon is a link back to the Sermons & Books page of that website.

It is at the following, and has 50 good sermons, books and other pages that will benefit anyone seeking the truth of God's word.

Let God have all the glory for the benefit this is for you. Rolfe Barnard would say - has said - the same thing.
Conscience... having often been slighted, it will be weary of chiding; or, if it not be wholly dumb, we shall be deaf to its reproof: as those who live by cataracts or downfalls of water, are, by continual noise, so deafened as not to hear or mind it.
Isaac Barrow (1630−1677)
Read the following, if you desire more of this great evangelist's work.

I have the paperback printed version of the three volumes that are represented by that webpage. My wife reads in those regularly, and we use them when we want to sit around, and have a good, sound sermon.

Let me know, and I'll tell you a good source for audio versions of many of his sermons. These were preached in the nineteen-forties, -fifties, and -sixties. Some are poor quality recordings, and NONE are able to reproduce the audio dynamics characteristic of his preaching style!

Dear billvelek. I cannot offer the name of a church, ( I am in the Salvation Army) but I can give you a plan to follow, where you will meet many people, whom to ask. In Matthew 22: 35-40: Jesus tells us: " The first and great Commandment is : Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself." On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. God is Love and God wants loving men and women. Matthew 7: 7-10: tells us: " ask and ye shall receive," there we ask God for Love and Joy, thank God, and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour: all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends. We keep asking God for Love and Joy, and keep sharing it with our neighbour. There you will meet many people, to ask for a good church.
The Bible tells us to " Repent and to be Born Again," we change our selfish wishes and wants for loving and caring. It might seem a bit strange to us at first, but we will find that people will treat us the same as we treat people.
We might stumble and forget at times, but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on loving and caring: perhaps the occasional hand also?
Jesus our Saviour will help and guide us, JESUS IS THE WAY. I say this with love, bill. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.
