Born and raised in NYC. Moved to Allentown, PA in 1995. Then moved to North Whitehall. Live in a farmhouse (house was built 1852!) I love it.

Coming from NYC I went into a Deli and asked for a "sub". They must've thought I was crazy. When he finally figured out that it was a hoagie he almost threw me out when I asked for Mayo and Oil and vinegar!

Scrapple rocks! But I never heard of breading it! Hmm...gotta try that!

Born & raised central PA! Small town and country grl my whole life...currently am country grl living about 37 miles east of State College.

Scrapple is awesome...hoagies/subs are the best when loaded with mayo and oil and vinegar, and I live near many Amish and Old-Order Mennonites! But wouldn't trade it for anything.

I'm surprised, but elated that there are so many ppl from PA here!

Hey Brother JIM! Be sure to check us out sometime: www.3rddayworshipcenter.org. We're in Allentown.

Hey, are you going to the Allentown Fair? - Aug.30-Sept 5!

Get your Perogies (something I never saw in NYC), your Funnel Cake and all that good stuff!

Greetings/hola, Alabele.

Yes, I noticed before in your stats that you went to 3rd Day. I've been to your iglesia there on Hanover Ave. several times, though not for maybe 2 or 3 years now. (I had read in a mag. or heard on some broadcast program, that you guys were experiencing revival, especially among the youth, so I went to check it out. I'm always looking for where God is moving, or rather I was back then. Not to boast, at least not in me, but I've been experiencing a personal revival for 14 years now, and so have look for similar others from time to time.)

Probably not.

My ancestors have been here in the Lehigh Valley for nearly 300 years now (and they invented funnel cakes! {-_-} ). I myself was raised in Emmaus. So as a child and teen, I went to the Fair every year. I don't think I've been there in a decade, though---since the time my son was himself an early teen. It's not the same anymore--for whatever reason(s). I'm happy for you that you are edified by it, however---have fun.

The horror of it all! Actually, I do believe you. When I ask for that mixture of condiments, I get strange looks as well.

Mmmmm - perogies and funnel cakes! Now that's what Fairs are all about!

Seeing the words funnel cake, Lancaster, Amish, fairs and hogies with oil and vinegar make me a bit home sick. Calzone is one that was left out. Oh so good the cheese ones are. I left Mechanicsburg (south central Pa) in 1986 to move south. Way south to the Panhandle of Florida. Nice memories of home though.

Do they still have the diving mules? I couldn't believe that the first time I saw it. I'm sure PETA has (rightfully, in this case) put an end to it.

One of my best teenage memories is seeing Stevie Ray Vaughn at the Fairgrounds. Greg Allman opened for him. Great show.

Hi Scotty! Don't know about the driving mules, but at the Allentown Fair they do have the cow, pig, horse contests - i.e. "Best of show", etc.
Not really sure how that whole thing works!
