• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God,
which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4:6-7

whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25)

Don’t be quick in your spirit to become angry,
for anger lodges in the bosom of fools.
- Ecclesiastes 7:9

John 8:44
....... He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own:
for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Your mind is what the evil one attacks...and through depression he continues his lies. Depression lies to you, to everyone. Don't believe the lies. Determine to work on the underlying anger (at life, others, parents, God...) which feeds depression. Counter all negative thinking--you have 30 seconds to change a negative thought to a better one before it adds to the toxic tree in your brain. (Neurobiology.)

Begin praising God, thanking God for His love and mercy...even though you may not feel it, like all other times we are not to run on feelings for they are often not correct. God is there and never leaves you. Focus upon Him and it helps you not be dragged down into the dark pit of depression.

Most people who are depressed really don't wish to end their life, they wish their life as it is now, to end. And you can change it. Ending life is the worse case scenario, so any other solution would be better...if you have to leave where you are living, change jobs, relationships etc... begin with a clean slate. But we all can begin with a clean slate each day, hour! What is it that you really want changed in your life that you feel you have no control of, I wonder? God can and will make a way for you to escape this, again, if necessary again. You haven't always been so low, and you will be better in the future...hang tough.

Tell yourself not now. "not now" If you need to keep this as an end to end all, then do so, but don't do anything now. Not now. When depression hits no one needs to be making critical decisions, and that would be one. So put the decision off: don't do anything finite now.

"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus." By slowly changing your thinking from negative to positive (even though you can't believe the verses you are reading, hold fast to them)...your behavior (and mood) will change as well. Even if you slump into depression again, but working on changing the way you think, any and each future depression will not be as deep and/or not as long lasting.

You can make it.
