I just saw the SFU Pipe Band perform last night...they are awesome- it's how we Canadians get our fix of Scotland waaaay over here! Oh and they ARE the best pipe band in the world after all ( ooops....that was my pride getting in there- sorry!) I am hoping that my younger sisters will feel re-inspired to pick up their pipes again and get back in the habit, even start dancing again. Wish I had learned
One thing I was aware of about was that some, NOT ALL Scots( whether you live there or not) can be a bit skittish when it comes to their money; apparently it's a stigma now and there is even an advert on tv about an old stickler scottish man who never wears anything but his kilt and sporran and vows to take all his coins to the grave with him!
The gentleman hosting the sold out performance last night made it blatantly clear: " If the majority of ye are Scots, then who bought all the tickets?" And he was the first to admit it!
What do you think about this?? Is it true? Is it in the blood??

We need a 'mad stompin' Scot' emoticon... look this one is almost there with the Highland Fling if he only had legs and would stop moving his arms!

Hmm....I know it's not an excuse really but I have asthma which I would imagine would hinder me just a little bit. ( I get wheezy, like this guy looks-out of breath) I have tried to play my sisters' chanters, but that was hopeless- actually they asked that I never do it again! ( jus kid'n)

How many play the pipes on here??

You are right it is no excuse

I am not a doctor, but I know sveral asthmatic who have been advised to take up wind instruments to help their asthma, and it has (of course every case of asthma is different, so I would speak to your doctor before taking up any instrument).

Did you sound as if you had stood on the cat's tail???

My dad does Personally I think pipes should be played over the hills and far away, and the further away the better, IMHO

I am a Fiddler; the violin produces a much more pleasing sound to the ear LOL

!!!! IT DOES NOT MAKE A MORE PLEASING SOUND!!!! you cant get more patriotic than hearing the pipes play a slow and melodic tune, but ill give it to ya that they do sound nice drifting over the hills. and yes again, my mate was recommened to take up the Pipes by his doctor to help his breathing. and my last point as im sure youll have guessed, i play the pipes!
