Umm, a good smellin' man . . . Sorry . . . anyway, I agree with silwJC7. A freshly showered man that smells of, well, soap and man.

I like the subtle scents. Nothing over powering or too perfumey. Soap and a good smelling aftershave and you guys should be all set.

Oh, right, let me add mine. I prefer lotions and body splashes than perfumes, although I will wear them from time to time. My favorite lotions are both from Bath and Body Works. 'Cotton Blossom' (although I get a ton of chicks telling me I smell good ) and 'Moonlight Splash' (I think). What I wear for perfume is Eau de Eden by Cacharel. I can only usually find it via ebay.

Hahaha! I haven't been to B&B Works in, like, a decade, and you're a guy rattling off the names of fragrances. Either you are REALLY secure in your sexuality, or you have a mom, sister, or GF that's partial to that store. Either way, I'm amused.

This thread made me realize that I haven't owned a real bottle of perfume since that Kenneth Cole for women garbage. (The men's fragrance smells a little cheap too.) So while I was in Nordstrom at lunch today, I swung by the perfume counter and sampled a few things. I swear, the perfume pushers are commissioned or something. The only thing she wanted to sample for me was Bvlgari and I couldn't stand the smell of ANY of them.

She also had this preconceived notion that because I have to dress professionally for work that I must be some man eating business woman that needed the corresponding fragrance. Half the things she sampled for me were overpowering and nasty or nauseating. I know that I'll recognize *MY* scent when I smell it, but she and I just weren't aromatically compatible.

Maybe working at a perfume counter all day starts to deaden your sense of smell so that you don't recognize Eau de Trashpile as you're spritzing it on passersby.

On a guy:
Just took a shower, used deodorant and maybe a nice/light scented aftershave. (My fave scent)
I can stand some of the men's perfume out there but alot of guys just put too much on or try to cover a scent that only a bath can get rid of .

On me:
Tommy Girl is my fave perfume (I also use Curve but I'm tired of it)
Country Apple - body spray from B&B
Sun-Ripened Raspberry- body spray from B&B
There are others but I hardly use them so I can't remember the names

On Other Females:
It all depends because different things smell differently on different people

If you like those apple notes but are looking for something a little more sophisticated, I highly recommend Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana.

I also like Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan. It has head notes of light florals with warm wood and musky undertones. I test drove that one out of Nordstrom today after much resistance from the sales hound. After it had a chance to breathe on me it was very nice.

Thats a female scent? The light blue?

I'm going to have to check that one out. Apples are a good time.

I actually have an extremely poor sense of smell, for reasons that I don't quite know. I don't have a problem with the sense of taste, which is a little odd, but anyway. Unless I really try, I can't smell a darn thing.

I personally wear a fairly ornery brand of deoderant called Dufour Bold, but it has a really nice scent, and quite a number of people have commented that it smells nice.

My friend can't smell. If we ever were out shopping and checking out perfumes, she'd ask me if it smelled good. She'd still wear perfume, but she couldn't smell it.
