no such thing as eternal torment .... DESTROY .... end of existence for eternity.
In the Koine Greek (the now dead language our NT was written in) says of this word in Mt.10:28 apollumi means-to give over to eternal misery. Thayer's Greek English Lexicon of the New Testament.

The reason I underlined the word 'destroy' in my post was to alert poster's attention from the word (kill) in Mt.10:28. I was hoping that they would look the word up in the Greek. That's ok though, it's done.

Dear GallagherM,
I wish I could help you understand but "understanding" only comes from the Lord.

I have been where you are now. Our carnal natures and Satan's deceptions are so strong, our only hope is to trust what scripture tells us. Our "senses" cannot be trusted. If you don't believe you have enough faith to believe God's Word, then pray for more faith. God is the giver of good gifts. Just the knowledge that you are lacking something is a gift from God. From that knowledge, pray for what you need. Christ said that people don't receive what they pray for because they pray for the wrong things. The things we need to pray for are spiritual gifts that cause us to change from within. Faith is one of those gifts.

Concerning Mark 1:15, I know scripture tells us to repent BUT we can only repent if Christ causes it to happen. We are told to do many things in scripture and likewise, we can only do them if Christ gives us the ability and desire to do them. We are totally dependent upon God for everything. This is "godly humility". Don't assume that you have anything good in you. Accept what scripture says about mankind's spiritual condition and abilities. We are so utterly lost that there is nothing good inside us except what Christ gives us. And He gives those good spiritual gifts to us because of His GRACE - not because we do anything to deserve them.

You said:
I just have a problem with anyone trying to use scripture to say that I did not make a choice; because I did though if you do not believe that it is okay your perspective is different than mine.

You did make a choice. I'm not saying you didn't. But the choice you made was BECAUSE of Christ's work within you that He did first. If He hadn't come to you and given you the Early Rain of the Spirit, you would not have ever made a choice to accept Him. Scripture says it is not possible. Ask yourself, should I believe what my senses are telling me or should I believe what God's Word is telling me?

Once a person can come to the understanding that their salvation was 100% the work of Christ, that it was Christ who caused them to accept Him and call Him Lord, then they will know that others who reject Him are only doing so because the Grace of God (Christ) has not come to them yet. But scripture proclaims that His Grace will come to all mankind someday. And when it does, all mankind will be saved.

But there is an order to mankind's salvation. In this present age, Christ is only appearing to and saving His chosen Elect. They are few in number. No one else can be saved at this time because Christ does not appear to anyone who has not been chosen. For those not chosen, Christ will appear to them in the final age, at the end of the harvest season.

Jesus is the Savior of mankind and it is His work to accomplish our salvation, not man's. That is the reason why He came:

1John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

Since our salvation is solely His work, He can't possibly fail since our God never fails.

Joe

@FaithWillDo I love you but I disagree you and your approach to scripture.

Dear GallagherM,
All I can do is present the word. It is up to Christ as to whether you can accept it.
As the Lords wills,
Joe

I agree you you I believe once saved always saved is a false narrative. A believer will continued to be saved by and through faith, trust and relying on God atleast inwardly. The out part of many many people can see and judge and their are many people out there who are struggling in their bodies but are simply weak in faith.

There will be some however who completely refuse to have anything to do with God or Jesus a Christian at all on the basis of they do not care.

If a person is a Christian they will care and they will look into the things of what the Word of God says and check into them and also that means check anyone no matter what they are presenting.

Those who are strong in faith it says we are to encourage those who are weak in faith, and thinking about Jesus he was a friend of sinners eating with them and having relationship with them.

I believe Christians who read the word of God should understand how they are saved to the kingdom of God now; they are a child of God now by faith. Though our bodies may do things we don’t want it to do in comparison to our spirit the new creation new man yearns for spiritual things and a hope to leave this body of death and go be with God one day.

It’s all by Gods grace and we can not boast. But boast in the goodness of God and what the Lord Jesus Christ has done.

Though a person can just as easily give up and walk way all together.

In Matthew 1:21, Jesus will save his people from their sins and the Mosaic Law was his people know what sin is (1 John 3:4), so living in obedience to it through faith is what it means to receive the gift of Jesus saving us from living in disobedience to it. Our salvation would be incomplete if it only involved being saved from the penalty of sin and not also being saved from continuing to live in sin. In Titus 2:14, Jesus gave himself both to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own possession who are zealous for doing good works, so becoming zealous for doing good works in obedience to the Mosaic Law is what it means to believe in what Jesus accomplished through the cross (Acts 21:20). Jesus began his ministry with the message to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand, so repenting from our disobedience to the Mosaic Law is an integral part of the Gospel of the Kingdom, which is the light to the nations (Matthew 4:15-23), and which Jesus prophesied would be proclaimed to all nations (Matthew 22:12-14).
