If you want to teach the truth, you need to know the truth first. Here comes the truth:

Jesus Christ was not born on december 25th. Christmas really has nothing to do with Jesus the Christ, it is originally a pagan holiday, knowing that, I wouldn't celebrate it.. I however would celebrate our savior Jesus Christ everyday of my life though..

Honestly, I think Santa Claus is kinda cute, but he should never take Jesus' place in a child's heart. There's an ornament that I asked my husband for this year that is similar to this:

I plan to point it out to our son each year and tell him about Saint Nicholaus who helped the poor by giving them gifts, which is where Santa Claus comes from. My son is only 2 now so he doesn't know who Santa Claus is anyway. lol Next year I'll plan to start early to teach him about Jesus and one of His servants who modeled himself after Jesus and how we should do the same so others will see our good works and glorify Jesus, too.

Very good, that is what my wife and I have done with our kids also. It is truly amazing seeing how excited they get when they get to pick out gifts for each other.

Last year while I w s doing some charity work, I was actually called Santa Clause, I was not wearing a suit or portraying him in anyway but the work that I was doing was the same work he was doing. I hope that I will never forget that moment, the moment that I realized that I realized that I, you and we are God's answer to the prayers of those whom we do not know.

You are free to make that choice. We celebrate who we are in Christ every day, but we place special emphasis on key events in His life. It does not matter that it is not on the specific date that the original event occurred. I am personally in favor of any excuse to point to Christ and an opportunity to present special lessons to my children.

This thread is about Santa Clause. The truth is St. Nick was a real man who really showed the compassion of Christ and the spirit of selflessness in giving to others. This joy, this love, and this compassion is something worthy to be emulated and that is especially true as a direct reaction to the joyous gift given to us by and through Christ.

Do we celebrate and give all year round? Absolutely, and may we never stop! I am grateful for a time of year when more and more people embrace it and take part! Heck, even non-Christians act more like Christ! It is also a time of year when people with needs will let their prideful guards down a bit more and allow us to bless them in very special ways.

We celebrate Christmas as a secular holiday, the same as the Fourth of July. We have never allowed a Santa Claus, an angel, a manger scene, or a crucifix in our house or on our Christmas tree.

But I don't get all excited about it, and I don't attack people who do.

From the time my son was a small child, we taught him the meaning of Christmas being the time Jesus' birthday is celebrated. Santa was a part of our Christmas celebration, growing up, but Santa never took away from the true meaning. My son is mentally hanicapped and if you ask him today, some 25+ yrs later, what Christmas is about, he will answer Jesus. I saw no reason my child should be exempt from having some fun time with Santa, setting out cookies and milk. As long as children are taught the true meaning, they are intelligent enough to understand. We believe in our family that Christ was born the later part of Sept, and his conception took place December 25th. It is still a celebration of Christ, when his spirit first began to dwell with 'mankind.' Yes, Santa, is all about gift giving, as God gave to us the greatest gift of all, His son, Jesus Christ.

Yule. It is actually still celebrated by pagans. It's also known as the Winter Solstice. I used to be Wiccan and still had a decorated tree, a yule log, and lots of pretty candles. I actually read in one of my books that Jesus was probably born in March or April (btw, pagans know Jesus wasn't born on December 25th and why the date got moved).

I believe Yule was a northern European holiday, Christmas was celebrated in the Middle-East and southern Europe for centuries before the people who celebrated Yule were Christianized. I am not seeing how you are making a connection? Particularly because Yule wasn't celebrated on December 25... it was moved to that date when the nordic people adopted the Julian calendar six hundred years after the first recorded Christmas.

In other words, why are you saying Christmas came from a nordic holiday like Yule when people were celebrating it in Egypt in the first century?
