  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh no wait... the "now" is capitalized and bold so it must symbolize Pres. Bush finally getting through to Sadam.

It's more like political cartoon funny than HAHA funny.

I guess it might be Verizon. One of the cell phone companies.

The guy is walking around in the commercial calling people saying "Can you hear me now", calls someone else...."Can you hear me now"?

You know coastie because cell phones are notorious for cutting out or they can be hard to understand what the person on the other line is saying?

Well now Saddam understands, as evidenced by the destruction in the background, and maybe that new phone.

Well if you've seen the commercial you would make the connection.

It's like Bush has been telling Saddam to disarm and stuff and Saddam doesn't seem to hear him, so we make a statement by blowing up something, and Bush asks, "Can you hear me now"?

You have to delve into the realm of dark humor. I can't really explain it very well, maybe someone can explain better than I.

When I got this as an email I couldn't stop laughing for like 10 minutes straight, it was the best laugh I've had in a while. I guess I have that knack for understanding dark subtle humor, I don't know. Kristen loved it too.

I think if you saw the commercial and then put the 2 together you would find it quite humorous.

Do you know what is really sick and cruel?  Moreso than an ad or joke?

The fact that a woman was hung for waving to the coalition forces.

Please tell me, for those of you who are so opposed to this war, that you're up in arms and on the verge of protesting against the Iraqi government for this heinous and murderous war crime. Right?  After all, isn't the major concern civilian casualties?  That woman was a civilian, and she's not a casualty.  Are you going to protest the government that murdered her?  It wasn't the United States.

Has anyone stopped to think that maybe some humor goes a long way in relieving some pressure and tension?  Aren't there any "humorous" political cartoons about President Bush and his cabinet?  What is the ratio, do you think, of President Bush to Saddam Hussein?

LOL, dude I can understand not liking American politics, but it just seems to me that you don't understand the concept of "the lesser of two evils".

This is what I see:

"The Iraqis are goign to be free of brutality and torture."

response: "yeah but US companies are going to buy their oil."

"Sadam hussein is an evil dictator and oppresses the people of his country"

response: "yeah but now these poor people are going to be introduced to American culture"

"We are bombing Bagdad to be rid of a man who poses a threat to the entire world."

response: "I wonder what the Iraqi people think about that."

You know why pro-war and anti-war people can't agree on anything, because the reasoning of the anti-war crowd is so doggone hard to understand.

Honestly I never know what one of you guys is going to say next.

If some of the attitudes that exist today had been around in the 1940's, the people who have those attitudes would have gone into vapor lock when they saw the way poor old Adolf Hitler was lampooned in all those Warner Brothers cartoons.
