  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sadly, I got some bad news about an hour after I posted this. My uncle died this morning. I have been bummed out most of the day. He was my favorite uncle and I am very sad he is gone.

Dawn, I'm so sorry about your Uncle. I know how you feel.

Dawn, I am so sorry to hear about your uncle. Believe me, I can relate. If you need anything, please let me know. My thoughts are with you and your uncle's family.

Hi JD How have you been, and how come you turned off your rep again.

LOTS of fun. We basically ATE our way around France and western Switzerland. Don't worry, you basically have to walk everywhere so we actually LOST weight! Seriously! My body hurts though, I have a connective tissue disease and it was a bit much for me to do that much walking every day. The french really know how to do bread, cheese and wine (don't worry, we're Presbyterians!). I had the most awesome coq au vin in the town of Dijon! Yes, the same place they make the mustards. Also beef bourgonion (sp?) was the most awesome glorified pot roast ever. Once I discovered the cheeses, I gave up the sweet stuff. Cheese is a dessert course there rather than an appetizer here. Tres magnifique!
