  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

REILLYS CCC - All are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

It's Monday, you could phone them today

I had a lovely lunch at church with the priest and pastoral assistant and some friends. We chatted about all sorts of silly things for about 1.5 hours. It was pleasant. The food was good too, potato gems, roasted chicken, coleslaw, Greek salad, and some pizza. Very nice, and for sweets we had a fruit pie with custard on top and some really good ice-cream. Most excellent!

rain update: now they're calling for 3 or more inches (8-10cm's.) of rain with posible knee-deep flooding in low lying areas. I don't have to worry about that because our place can take up to 3 times that amount. but there are plenty of people in the metropolitan area that will have some wet, stalled out cars today and tonight.

update 2 :We now have a mini-river running thru our parking lot, not deep, but a river of rain nontheless, and our vent pipes are gurgling as the rain displaces the air. Yes, i have flood and water back-up insurance! Too much rain for the gutters to handle, we now have waterfalls outside.

Take care pdudgeon...

Just make sure that Noah has his little boat ready

oh that's for sure! the rain is back with rumbles of thunder. not enough time elapsed during the brief break in the weather to get outside, so i'm still inside and dry. Found out that we have a low pressure area lurking just off the coast that is providing all the wetness. it's a long area, so there's plenty of rain still to come.

Got any doves ?

Sounds as if you may well need them

sometimes there are doves that hang around here in the woods next door to the garages, but i haven't heard any today. They like to nest in the birch trees outside my bedroom window, so i often hear them early in the morning in the Springtime.

do you have any wildlife where you live?

Grey squirrels occasionally run across the 'garden' not to mention the odd urban fox meandering down the road.

Birds - well seagulls , magpies, pigeons , etc etc

yep we've got a pair of grey squirrels too. fortunately they havent located my daffodill bulbs yet, but it's not for lack of trying!

I haven't seen a fox around here in several years, but we have mainly raccoons, and 'possums, a few skunks, and some deer (as evidenced by the road kill)

no magpies here though--we only see them on the tv commercials for Windex glass cleaner. nice looking birds!
