Raincheck in Christ
Ever wondered why Jesus does not help when we ask? Ever wondered why things go south every now and then? The answer is, because we give Jesus a raincheck. Ever wondered why a Christian backslides? Ever wondered why a Christian will leave a church and seek out another and another and another? The answer is, because we give Jesus a raincheck. In all things we give Jesus a raincheck, its to hard or I just don't know or that does not make sence to me. So we shut Him down and get on with it in our power. When it goes wrong we cry out, why did you not help me.
And Jesus answered them, "Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith."
(Matthew 21:21-22)
Its easy to read the words in the Bible, its another thing to believe in them. The question is, was Jesus a lier? Or is the Bible a lie? On both accounts the answer is no. The problem is not the Bible nor is it Christ, the problem is us. We doubt, we don't trust, we lack faith. We have heaps of belief, knowledge of the word, thats not the problem. The problem is we doubt what we read and believe.
Jesus is true to His word, He is true to His Father, He is true to us. We just give Jesus a raincheck. Place it in the to hard basket. Or is it we have no idea what real faith is? Or is it we have no idea on what we are in Spirit to Him?
"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name,I will do it.
(John 14:12-14)
We read this, but fail to believe it, we are ever iffy. What if it does not work, what if I am wrong, what if if if, very iffy. We say we are Christian, well why not thats easy. But what is a Christian? Whats it mean to be a Christian? What does it mean to you?
Lets look at the first line '"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do' Well we all say we believe in Him, but what of the works that Jesus did, why are we not doing the same works and more to the point greater things? Jesus said 'If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.' Not sure if you know this, but the part were it says 'I will do it' this is not a parrable, its a direct quote, a statement of fact. But we give Jesus a raincheck.
It seems to me some of us are just pretenders, floating on the water going now where, sails without wind, which brings me to this fine word WIND. This one word has many meanings and this word became the point of conversation with Jesus.
Talking to Jesus about this Jesus was very to the point, this is what Jesus had to say.
Raymond, the wind you speak off, is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God and your spirit. Many fail to understand even thought it is written. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
(Genesis 1:1-2) The Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters, the wind! then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
(Genesis 2:7) The Father made man from the dust of the ground, yet the man did not live. The creator of all things made a man yet man did not live. The Father breathed into mans nostrills the breath of life, only then did man become a living creature. The wind. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
(John 3:8) Again the wind. How is it that men don't know what is in them, how is it they read yet fail to understand? The spirit is what makes you alive, the same spirit that was breathed into Adams nostrills have been breathed into yours, the wind. The spirit in man is so small an infant that needs to grow. Your spirit is from the Spirit of God Himself, a part of God in you. What condition is it in, what have you done to this Prince in you. The spirit in you is a mighty sail that will carry you along the hard road to life everlasting. Your spirit is weak and needs a gust of wind to set the sail, The Holy Spirit will fill your sail that will bring you home. Your spirit, The Spirit of God and the Holy Spirit all play a part in your travels home. Without the wind you will not get home.
Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
(John 3:5-6) Water alone is not enough, you must be born of the Spirit as well. The flesh is not enough to bring you home, the Spirit is also needed. Indeed many times I have stated that the Spirit is everything. Talking in the Spirit, hearing in the Spirit, seeing in the Spirit, learning from the Holy Spirit, worshiping the Father in Spirit and in truth, healing in the Spirit. How can this generation just pretend it has no meaning, how can this generation account for the condition of the spirit in them?
The next time you do anything, do it in Christ and put yourselves on the back burner, humble yourselves. The next time you step out to do something, step out holding the hand that holds you up. The next time you think you know something, think again in Spirit. Don't give Jesus a raincheck, do it in Christ today. Live a Spirit filled life in Christ and see where the wind takes you.
Blessing in the name of my Master, Jesus Christ.
