Questions About Soul Ties?

I don't believe in "soul ties", but I do believe that the devil tries to take advantage of someone vulnerable and weak in an area before it's understood, and tries to pervert it. You see this with some women, married or unmarried, that don't have a spiritual life together to share with someone, and become enamored with the pastor or whoever that is fulfilling a spiritual need, then gets perverted and carnally acted out. The word soul ties sounds so occultish.

Wow! I did not think I would receive this many replies. First please do not argue or debate about this matter. If you don't believe in soul ties do not come back to this thread. Working out your own salvation doesnt require you believing in soul ties. I just know what the Lord has told me and due to my obedience I was healed.

I dealt with torment, spirit of heaviness, and oppresion for 15 years. I forgave, loved, prayed, read the Word of God, and I couldnt understand why I wasn't healed from my sickness and my pain that I suffered because of the sexual abused. I fasted and I was desperate. The Lord told me I need to break every soul tie from my soul. About 50 to 60 to be exact. As soon as I did that, the next morning I was a different woman. I was healed and He is healing me on a daily bases.

Just because you haven experienced it doesn't mean it is not true. Dont limit God and don't insult others because of your beliefs. There are millions of people in this world, not everything will be treated one way when it comes to God. I am no longer interested in this thread. I havent even read the replies. I will trust what the Lord told me anyways. I was just curious to what people think.

It is a spirit, especially molestation, I felt it on a young baby girl once, I was spending time with her and I had the most gross thought. I put that thought in subjection to Gods Word and I prayed over her.

Soul ties used to try and attack me at my last office, but I fooled them praise God! I moved office and didnt tell them where i was going~ the soul ties cant get me now

I have to go back to 1 Cor 6, where it says:

1 Cr 6:13 Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
1Cr 6:14 And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.
1Cr 6:15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!
1Cr 6:16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For "the two," He says, "shall become one flesh."[fn2]

This is from the NKJV, I haven't changed a word. In verse 13 Paul talks about sexual immorality. He establishes that he is talking about that in particular. In verses 15 & 16 he talks about a harlot. In this situation the word harlot literally means temple prostitute but the way it is used in context implies that he is calling a woman who has sexual relations outside of marriage a harlot. Either way, whether the woman (or man) is a prostitute or not, he/she is not the person's spouse. Verse 16 uses the "one flesh" term. This is indicative, when taken into context, of body, soul and spirit being involved with the sexual act and that there is a joining that entails more than the physical members.

Now, whether you want to call that a soul tie or not, a person who willfully has sexual relationships has 'joined together with each of the partners in those relationships.

(Acts 4:32 NIV) All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.

(Phil 2:2 KJV) Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
(Phil 2:20 KJV) For I have no man like-minded, who will naturally care for your state.

In the letter to the Philipian church Paul pleads with the church members to be "like minded". In the Greek this word is "sumpsuche" which means "like souled". In other words, Paul was exhorting them to be "soul-tied" in a Godly way.
In the verse 20, the translation of "like-minded" is "identically souled". i.e.. of a kindred spirit.

The soul is the area of the mind, the will and the emotions.
When we form "soul-ties", it involves our mind, will and emotions.

Johathan and david were joined at the soul level:

1Sa 18:1 NOW when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. /QUOTE]

Not all soul ties are negative. Jonathan and David's "knit" was a positive thing. The New Testament quotes above are positive things. Negative soul joinings are the enemy's perversion of truth.

I have read some peices in which the person is trying to say that soul ties don't exist because it doesn't show in any of those places that there is a dividing of a persons soul. This is an irrelevant argument because we're not talking about a physical thing here that has mass that can be divided. It's a giving of oneself, a term we use positively even is secular terms as in "Jim gives of himself in order to help people in need."

That's the way I see it.

How is that from the context since the context only talks about the "body" joined to the prostitute?

I believe that this is another example of a spiritual truth that somehow gets lost in translation.

Both my wife and I have experienced deliverance and emotional healing from both sides.
(getting it, and ministering it to others)

I understand that some of what I try and teach on the subject some here can’t swallow. Frankly, had I not been there and experienced what I have, I might have a hard time myself.

As a pastor I’ve seen a lot of messed up people. They are broken and damaged. And, not a lot of them seem to find freedom. When I look at my wife, knowing how terribly abused she was, and I see how God set her free and healed her I am amazed.

If you follow me on line you know that I’m as big a skeptic as they come. But, it is amazing how the manifest power of the Holy Spirit can change your theology about a whole lot of things (including soul ties)

For example, I used to not believe a Christian could be demonized. It is amazing how my theology changed when someone I love started growling at me!

It was even a bigger shock when I heard a growling voice coming out of my own mouth!

Praise God! We got set free! And my freedom is not contingent on someone else’s theology.

You post in one sentence that you haven't read our replies, and in the next sentence you write "I was just curious what people think. You can't have it both ways dear. Don't get upset that they post what they think.

people like to give names to things.
they call them catch-words, buzz-words, it is just what people do. i'm not the one who made it up, and people will always go with what sounds good. many of us don't really think about what words mean when we use them, to others it means something else. i call it obsession, somebody else calls it a soul-tie. as long as you get free, call it what you want, and get rid of it with the Word, In the Name of Jesus.
i don't fight, i just say what i believe and move on.

Hi there

Why dont we call these things what the bible calls them? (If indeed they are in the bible).

'Soul-tie' is not in the bible, any version, any verse.

I calls it makey-up!

We can say that David and Jonothan were good buddies, or we can say all this soul-tie mumbo jumbo.

Have you ever noticed that all the dates in the bible are given on the Jewish calendar? A lunar calendar of 13 months set by God

Esther 3:7
In the twelfth year of King Xerxes, in the first month, the month of Nisan, they cast the pur (that is, the lot) in the presence of Haman to select a day and month. And the lot fell on the twelfth month, the month of Adar.

We use a pagan oriented calendar of twelve months and wonder why the things in the bible dont really make sense

Our first month is not Nisan, our first month is 'January', this literally means:

January is named for Janus (Ianuarius), the god of the doorway; the name has its beginnings in Roman mythology, where the Latin word for door (ianua) comes from - January is the door to the year.

Actually I think Wednesday is the only day with a pure name origin. I heard it's weddingsday..but then again, I have been known to be wrong..
