Hey guys,

Blessings in Christ Jesus!

I'm doing a study on world religions and need to know what does your religion feel about the Jews... are they still the chosen people... or do Christians and Christianity replace them?

thanks!!

I'm not sure anymore. I've always thought we replaced them but I've been listening to John Macarthur on Grace to you and now I'm not sure. It looks like they may repent and accept Christ one day.

Many Baptists, myself included, hold that ethnic gentiles and ethnic jews are part of God's chosen people, spiritual Israel, or the Church. This is a position that you will find among Baptists, although there are certainly other positions. The belief that national Israel remains in a covenant with God which will be fulfilled in the end times is also well represented among Baptists.

Roughly speaking, the latter view is Dispensationalism, whereas the former is a form of New Covenant Theology. Both have been represented in Baptist circles ever since there were Dispies and NCT's.

FIRST OF ALL... THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING ME OUT WITH YOUR INPUT!!

I know, I used to believe that Jews stopped being Jewish when they came to faith in Christ... I'm leaning towards this as not being true at all... Still on the fence.

But, "not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but 'Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.' "

It was Romans 9 that really pushed me away from my Dispensational youth. Sure, God isn't over with Israel, and still has a plan for Jews, provided we understand what that means. Ethnicity doesn't seem to make one an Israelite in Paul's mind. I'm farily convinced that as far as Paul is concerned, there never was at any time any kind of racial covenant with Israel.
