Hi,

Only recently Have I given my heart to the lord and accepted him into my life.

I have been with the same girl for 4 years. Over this time I have not been faitfull to her. I have now accepted the lord into my life. I Know what i have done wrong. I want to be with the girl for the rest of my life, and i want to marry her.

I want to know if by me accepting the lord into my life, He forgets about the past. I dont want to tell my girlfried that i have been unfailthfull.

What I am asking is advice on what you think I should do?

Any help will be great

hey, i know that if the person i was with cheated on me, i would want to know right away. u not telling her in the first place and then putting it off makes it worse. in my mind, the longer u wait o tell her the worse the deed gets. if she really loves u, u can make it work. just explain to her that u have now accepted christ as ur lord, and now its time to come clean. tell her u love her and want to be with her for the rest of ur lives BEFORE u tell her wat u did, itll earn points before the **** hits the fan so to speak...

Days after I accepted the Lord, I thought of specific things that I had done wrong in the past. It became quite a list that I presented to God in prayer. If you have not done so already, I would advise you to ask God to forgive you for your unfaithfulness to your girlfriend.

That would be the first step I'd take. You need God's forgiveness on this point - even though this happened before you accepted the Lord into your life. Now He is in your life and He wants you to bring all your burdens to Him.

You have been with this girl for four years - you know her fairly well, I'd say. What do you know about her views on forgiveness? Did she accept the Lord as well in her life? All things are possible with God - but not all things are possible with all people. I do know people who are able and willing to forgive unfaithfulness in their partners/spouses. Others are not willing to do that. And even if they do, some needed to part company because their trust in the other was destroyed.

As a believer I do see that a tremendous change took place in you. As a believer who got saved in her late twenties I know that the things I liked to do or did not mind to do are changed into something unpleasant, not to be repeated. As a believer I can understand and see your willingness to change, not to do certain things again.

That is why I wondered whether your friend is a believer herself. It would be difficult for her to understand that you are not the same person anymore , that now the Lord Jesus Christ is in your life. She might not understand what on earth you are talking about.

But ... this matter is on your conscience. Even though the Lord set you free, the knowledge of your unfaithfulness to your girlfriend does hinder you and there is the constant worry that one day she will find out. Things do have a tendency to come to light - often when we least expect them to do so. And if that would happen, you have no way of assuring her that you did change. Because you disclosed important things from her while already a believer. It would hinder your testimony.

And as someone whose testimony is severely hindered - I can only recommend to you to do whatever is possible for you to keep your testimony. Your walk with the Lord will be much freer and unhampered with a good testimony.
