Iow, a Calvinist doctrine, right? Some day I should study Calvinist beliefs and maybe church history. I really only know what I believe and why (I'm a convert to the MB; it is not in my heritage).

Well, TULIP is a convenient acronym for Calvinist beliefs, but there is also a lot more to Calvinism than just those five points.

Maybe, but may I suggest instead read the Bible through yourself, totally, several times.
There's no other TRUTH so PERFECT, and then when you open a book and see errors right away,
you won't waste time studying what is futile and often harmful. That's what I firmly believe all my life
AFTER being saved. Yhwh graciously kept me from spending much if nay any time
on those things contrary to Him.

Hey, Jeff. Yes, I have read the Bible through several times, taken an OT and NT survey course, and done topical studies using a Greek Theological Dictionary. I converted to MB because I can fully stand behind the theology and I trust my pastor and my church. But knowing why I believe what I do does not help me to engage in intelligent conversations with those of other beliefs. I know nothing about Calvinism or Catholicism or any other religion.

That's a pretty loaded question. I have no idea what the various Anabaptist sects believe. My guess is that since God knows all things, that he would certainly know (in the several senses of knowing) who would do what in all contexts. But I think a discussion about Molinism would be incomplete unless it also contained discussions on such issues as the various definitions of God's will, and the context of his nature. I'm not sure that a discussion like that would take place here on behalf of all the denominations of Anabaptists. Theology like this may very well be different in different denominations. Maybe someone else has a better idea of this.... ?

I have one more question.

What about Israel. Given the strong non-resistance stance, I'd imagine that Anabaptists don't support Israel militarily, but are there Anabaptists that see the nation of Israel as being Scriptural fulfillment and believe the nation should exist?

Frienden thalord, Amen! The Spirit of Christ...if we truly have it...HE sets us free from the bondage of sin. What is impossible for man/woman to do IS possible by the power of Christ. If anyone finds their self is unable to overcome sin, that is the weakness of the flesh. When Christ's spirit comes to live within and we DO what HE calls us to do by faith, HE gives the power to be an overcome, and free indeed!

We walk either in the flesh or by the Spirit and the proof is in the fruit in our LIFE...truly hidden in HIM...OR walking in the darkness of our human understanding and inability to overcome. HE promises that we WILL overcome sin and the world. How is it that the message today seems to be that we will always remain sorry sinners? That sounds like unbelief in the word of God, to me.

Peace joy love.................
The message of today , is truly as you said...........one of unbelief...........
for I say.............that if one truly believes in CHRIST
then all things are possible to he or she who believes.
at the very heart of this gospel of unbelief , we see its author is of darkness.
Who would tell man.............Did Christ really say by Faith in HIM you can overcome sin.....
no, surely ye cant , god knows ye cant overcome, has he really said YE MUST
WHO would say that...................a hint........
who said..........DID GOD really say ye cant eat of the tree, that ye will die
SURELY ye wont die.........for God does know that in the day ye eat
ye shall become as gods knowing good and evil.,,,,
The author of this gospel is the dark one
for HE knows full well...........that if a man or woman is left powerless in darkness
their end is perdition........
also note that this gospel of today
does not set its captives free.
JESUS came to SET the captives free.
THE same one who lied to eve
IS THE one who DOES NOT set the captives free........
and this gospel that leaves one in darkness..................does not set any free.
its author is the serpent....for we know satan does not set captives free.
he cant , its impossilble, for in him is no truth
and we KNOw the TRUTH alone is what sets a man free.............
JESUS , the TRUTH , the LIFE and the WAY
I say to one and t oall.................walk in the WAY......................amen.
