Is anyone else here in to punk like I am? I'm in to the hardcore punk bands like Social Distortion and Bad Religion (which are both really underrated). I turned my mother, a fan of Amy Grant, in to a fan of hardcore punk in the course of one year.
Pop punk is good too, but only in doses (for me). But if I had to pick a favorite pop punk band, it would definitely be MxPx.
Any other punk rockers on here?

I love Punk. I have heard of Social Distortion and Bad Religion, they are pretty good. Personally me I like classic Punk the most. There a band call X-ray spex that's awesome. They are one of the first punk bands in the world.

MxPx was my favorite band when I was your age. I saw them live a bunch of times, and I was a member of their fan club for a while, so I got backstage passes to their shows and stuff like that. Their recent stuff is way too radio-friendly for me, but I still like listening to their old stuff every once in a while.

I've never really liked listening to traditional punk bands... I definitely have respect for them, especially old school bands like Social Distortion and others before them, since I realize a lot of the music we have today is due to their involvement in the scene.

I prefer hardcore, which I think branched out from punk for the most part, when it comes to music in the punk genre. Pop-punk is ok in small doses, like you said, but listening to too much of it can really dumb you down musically.

Neither of those bands are underrated.

If you want to listen to rad hardcore, check out: Minor Threat, Negative Approach, SS Decontrol, Limp Wrist, DYS, Slapshot, Floorpunch, Youth Brigade...

I'll namedrop more if you want man.

i searched music as soon as i joined this forum to find a punk thread lol. i like doom, aus rotten, avskum and other crusty stuff and anarcho the most but i enjoy all of it..especially folk punk lately like andrew jackson jihad and ghost mice. people try to tell me all the time that punk goes against christianity but im also secure enough in my faith that i dont let it influence me too much

I'm a big fan of Irish punk - first made famous by The Pogues, but their tradition really carries on with the likes of Flogging Molly, The Tossers, Dropkick Murphys, and dozens of other lesser-knowns with dedicated followings. They are some of the most spirited live shows that I've seen too.

The Tossers are really underrated... in fact, most people have never heard of them, even though they've been around since the 90s. I just saw them a few months ago in a little bar, and there couldn't have been more than 100 people there.

I'd never heard of the Cherry Cokes... thanks for the heads up. They're from Japan? Interesting! Keep your eye on the Rumjacks too... a new band from Australia. They have two EPs out, and both are really good.

I was into a lot of punk in high school, especially the underground Christian bands. Bands like MxPx, Broken Cedars, The Undecided, Ghoti Hook, and Shorthanded were pretty amazing. Now I tend to listen to older stuff like The Clash and Ramones.

One newer band I'm a huge fan of is The Gaslight Anthem. They have some great punk sensibilities while mixing it with some diverse sounds and genres.
