This is something I genuinely appreciate about him. He's mobilized the social democrats better than anyone else has been able to. That's not a flame or insult, just a fact.
Another thing about Trump is he is smart. During his election campaign he understood how the electoral college system works and outsmarted the professional politicians in the Democratic Party as well as Hillary Clinton and walked away with the election....now that is smart.
In making them try to 'out left' each other he is showing how far to the left the Democrats are willing to go just to get the nomination.....which seems to be much further than the average voter is willing to go.....as I said.....smart.That is true. But unfortunately he seems to have mobilized them to compete who can be the most outrageous in their positions and the most vocal in criticizing the President. And that plays to his advantage. It remains to be seen whether it will have any affect on the congressional elections.
That's the thing. He seems to be resented and opposed equally by the permanent political class in both parties. Which makes him the first truly independent President we have ever had.
I would agree with that assessment. It is remarkable that even in the face of all that hate that he controls his temper to the extent that he does. A lesser president would probably not hold himself back as well........Not just opposed but President Trump is hated almost on a personal level
"Outrageous" seems to have worked for Trump, so we will see if the populist left can shock us in the same way with policies that would be decidedly centrist anywhere else. That is true. Shocking would be a better description; shocking the people out of their lethargy that things will always be the same and we cannot have positive change....change that actually benefits the country as a whole such as low unemployment for every one and not just particular groups."Outrageous" seems to have worked for Trump, so we will see if the populist left can shock us in the same way with policies that would be decidedly centrist anywhere else.

Low unemployment is a start, but it means little if employment alone doesn't allow for more than mere subsistence. That's why hopefully we will be able to push better policies - like a living wage and medicare for all - thanks to the increased attention Trump has drawn to just how bad politics can get when we have the wrong leadership.Shocking would be a better description; shocking the people out of their lethargy that things will always be the same and we cannot have positive change....change that actually benefits the country as a whole such as low unemployment for every one and not just particular groups.
