Preparing for the honeymoon

So I'm so excited about the honeymoon finally I will be able to express the depth of my love to my fiance in the most intimate way possible! But oh my can it take long enough to get here.. we've got 16 more weeks... Sept 17th is my lingerie shower by then I'll think I'll be dying to put it to use.. hahaha - but obviously we're waiting until we get married.. anyone else struggle with staying out of these situations?

I do!!! Me and my fiance are putting the Wedding on hold. We have been together a year next month and were going to get married on October 14, 2006 but now we are put a hold on the wedding for a additional year! So I know where you are...Atleast you only have 16 weeks!!!

I'm getting married next April...

My closest friends are putting together a 'fun basket' for our honeymoon - novelty condoms, toys, sexy games, fun lingerie, lotions and books and actual PRACTICAL stuff as well (like handtowels! )...

I can't wait to get it on my hens night... it'll be so much fun!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I got a similar lingerie/misc stuff basket to Sascha, only from my MIL and SIL (yeah, a little weird. Hubby asked "Where'd all this stuff come from?" and I was like "Would you be weirded out if I told you your mother gave it to us?" )

She seriously meant it as a non-pervy, kind gesture as she is a lovely generous woman. But it was a touch odd.

ETA: About waiting for the honeymoon, I cannot really give you advice as I had strayed and was not celibate then anyway, but there are some others who waited until their wedding night and they might be able to share something with you. I guess my only advice would be to not put too much emphasis on "the night", as you will be exhausted and emotional and that kind of atmosphere is not conducive to having mind-blowing sex the first time I'd just say keep it relaxed and slow, and take it easy.

Also, have you read some books about married intimacy? I'm sure some others will have some recs for you.

Well we have come to a decision on a wedding month now! It January of 2007! Lordy it seems so far off (wait it is far off!)...If only my wedding was 16 weeks away!!!

Going from zero to sex in one night...
Just enjoy the evening rather than try to follow some kind of script.
Some people may not be able to make it to the bed.
Some people might be scared to death.
Some people may be too darn tired to worry about it till the next day.

I recommend a hot tub and candles. It's a very nice way to introduce yourselves to the concept of being naked.

Spend as little time alone in private settings (each other's apartments cars parked in dark places yada yada yada). As for THE NIGHT talk about it. Not as in details so as to tease yourselves but as far as expectations. My husband and I didn't and it really effected our whole honeymoon and the next few months. ANd relax! There's nothing that says the action can't wait until the next morning or that the first time has to be a certain way.

My wedding is August 10th (15 days!!!). Unfortunately though I probably have mono so sex is the last thing I am worried about. If we have to wait a few weeks until I have more energy, so be it. At least I will be healthy enough to have the wedding itself.

I think society places too much emphasis on the physical aspect of intimacy. I also think that various physical gestures (laying in each other's arms, holding hands) can be just as intimate as sexual things, only in their own way. Bethany Torode, a contributor to Boundless webzine, said something like, "Passion has no beginning and end. A finger brushed over a cheek can be just as erotic as sex." It really depends on the people, the commitment, and the connection already there. AND.... the level of intimacy is ENTIRELY dependent on the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual intimacy. Those aspects of the relationship are absolutely crucial.... and the better they are, the better the physical part of it is.

Me and my fiance have talked about being together at our Wedding Night. We have decided since I want my Wedding to be over by 6 or at night...(its cheaper that way)we are going to go change and then go out and get some ice cream together and spend time together married before we think about 'getting it on' . We have planned to rent a movie as well and really get to know each other for the first time by ourselves...Instead of jumping to having sex. Which I have always thought is a good way to approach it...Slowly and simply!

Course for our honeymoon the only flight we could get directly to Jamaica is at 6 am! So I am not sure I plan on having sex anyway...LOL At 6 am I am not a pleasant person...We get to Jamaica at 10 in the morning so we have all day...LOL

Well, thats 2 years away so what am I worrying about!

Anywho way off subject sorry!

well mike and i loive together and when we first met sparks flew we were very attracted to eachother anyway about a few months being together sexually i told mike i wanted to abstain i got saved and it really bothered me for the first time in my life being molested at 8 screwed my whole perception at 18 i got pregnant and at 20 again i was so young and i missed out on both my sons as children anyway since that happened i told mike i want to prove to God we can do this its getting easier as time goes onwe cuddle and hold hands we kiss but not deeply we dont place ourselves in any postion to get heated up we sleep seperate and well all i can say it good luck and take your time u have a whole lifetime to exspress yourself intimately just remember marriage is about love dont make sex the main issue be patient and always enjoy the little momments

wow, talk about reviving an old thread

I'm getting married on September 8th of this year, another 5 months away and yeah, I think about that night quite abit. The only thing I have not discussed with him is music, I depserately want soft music because I KNOW it will calm me. I'm not nervous, rather I'm excited to be able to give myself to him for the first time, and to get to know him on a more intimate (and fun) level.

No, actually it doesn't seem that far away. The time is flying by so fast I feel like I don't have time to prepare. At least I have a small wedding and a FH who is more than happy, or rather wants, me to be in NORMAL clothing on that night lol. Just jeans and a (ok he finally admitted button down was nice) shirt I'm beginning to wonder what clothes I'll pack, where we'll go, how we're supposed to afford it...argh. But I'm excited and I am so glad I waited till the right man came along, now I have a wonderful gift to give him.

I'm very much looking forward to sharing such a special thing with my future husband. I'm also getting somewhat nervous. I know our first time isn't going to be the passionate, sparks flying, mindblowing sex you see in movies, but there's still that little thought of "what if I'm not able to give him the pleasure he's expecting?"

It's definitely getting harder and harder to keep ourselves out of compromising situations as it gets closer to the wedding. I've been getting lingerie and gift cards to Victoria's Secret from friends, so that doesn't help to keep the sexual charge down any, lol.
