Before various things happened to me that made me realise I believed in God (it's so embarresing to realise that I didn't stop being an atheist because I never really was one in the first place, except in a "functional" sense, and even then not really) and that Christ became man and all that jazz and decided that I would be a hypocrite not to become Catholic, I kind of dug the whole "predetermination" thing in Calvinism. I was an agnostic and my attitude was that "God might exist but since I am unable to seriously believe that, I must not be one of His elect - if He exists, so then I will definately go to hell if He exists, so I might as well just resign myself to it rather than railing against it or struggling or freaking out, since all that is useless in the face of God's almighty power.)
Anyway, I was wondering if predetermination actually implies that, is it possible for someone to find out they are not one of God's chosen and if someone did, what response to that should they have?
