  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Depending on how long you have been here, you might remember @JimB whether it was one of his book reviews or spirited debates, he was a powerhouse here.

He is one of the few I ever interacted with outside of CF.

Jim stepped away from CF a few years ago because of health issues and is currently fighting Alzheimer's

please pray for him and his family. He faithfully served his church for years and is a great dad.

Prayers for JimB He was one of the first people I remember when I joined CF many years ago.

This particular forum was really active then with many lively discussions and debate with Jim and others, but we were all 'family'. Last night I was thinking about the people even though I cannot remember names, they were lovely and it was the forum where I posted the most. Happy days.

I enjoyed reading the many interesting book reviews that Jim wrote and posted here.

I'm glad he is no longer suffering.

I'm late to the game, sorry to hear this. He and I got into some debate, but we were always friendly with each other.
