My best friend of 10 years is going through a dark time right now. He grew up in church with his family but never seemed to grasp and take hold of it.
After visiting him yesterday, I asked him how his relationship was with God was, and he said it's nonexistent, and that he doesn't believe.
When I started to explain that the absence he feels in his life is most likely from the absence of God, he just gave me the look that said, "ok sure," which truly broke my heart.
I don't know what to do or how to handle his denial of God. Whenever I try to talk about it with him (always gently, I never come on too strong so he doesn't think I'm trying to "bible thump"), he gets uncomfortable and tries to brush it off with humor.
I love my friend. And I do not want to see him go down a darker path. Any advice on how I can help him, or if praying is the best thing I can do and not push him.
Thanks in advance, any prayer is greatly appreciated.
