What this story doesn't tell you is that some students were still at the school when this started, preschool through 12. Also some people were inside the Cathedral when it started and had to wait for the police to get them out. He could have shot a child.(Los Angeles, CA) -- The man who barricaded himself inside a Southern California cathedral was the musical director and orchestra conductor. Johnnie Wayne Carl committed suicide after a standoff that lasted almost nine hours. It started yesterday just before 5 p.m. when he fired shots into the air inside the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove south of Los Angeles. The standoff ended just after 2 a.m. when police stormed a room in the church after hearing a gunshot and found the 58-year-old dead. Carl had worked for the cathedral for 25 years and made records with Celine Dion, John Tesh, Michael Crawford and the London Symphony Orchestra.
Right now it's pretty traumatic for them. I know my niece and nephew (6 and 8) don't understand why someone would do this, and my sister and her husband are shook up. Fortunately she can pick up her kids by 3:30 and they were already gone. A lot of people have been affected by this here.
I think everyone in this situation could really use some prayers.
Thanks.
