This morning I took heard the bad news that Pr Chester Stanley had a massive heart attack yesterday.

He is the president of the Australian Union Conference.

All he had was some pain in his left arm, his wife called the ambulance and just as it arrived he had the heart attack.

He was revived 12 times from there until he arrived at the hospital.

I know Chester very weel, he was our youth pastor at Avondale Memorial Church when I was growing up and has been our Conferece president for many years until he took over at union level.

He needs our prayers along with his family at this time.

His father was SPD evagelist before he retired, another brother is also a pastor and I also understand that one of his sons is a minister.

The whole family are very well respected in the SPD.

Blessings

will pray for him tonight..do update us on his condition

I was sent an email by our church minister to say that Pr Chester Stanley was given seven electric shocks to stabalize hime before the ambulance could take him to hospital.

Once he got there and they checked him out two stents were placed in arteries to open them up.

Chetser was from the old school and was a very geniune person.

I knew him well and considered him to be a good friend of mine and our family.

Blessings

Believe me, Chester is a good guy. When he was Gen Sec. at South Queensland he would come out to our Church and help us with the Adventist/ADRA Appeal.

In fact he liked coming out into the country and would come out on the twoo Sabbaths to help us and always preached when he came.

Then he wanted to come out and collect in the business area of Boonah. He had to pass that up as when he got back to the office on Monday there were things that stopped him coming.

One Sabbath when he came I said to him we had a non Adventist at Church and made him aware of who it was.

The non Adventist was my wife's brother who is a RC priest.

Chester then told me he had two sermons he had prepared to preach that day and told me what they were.

One was on the Sabbath and I forget what the other one was about now. He asked me what I thought he should use.

Thinking about it just for a split second I said "Preach on the Sabbath".

That is what Chester preached on.

Chester spent 13 years working in Papua New Guinea and speaks fluent Pidgin so they ended up getting on real well.

I have known Chester from when he first left College and was our Youth Minister at Avondale Memorial Church in Cooranbong and that must be well over 30 years ago now.

Thanks Cliff for you post about Chester.
I was also very shocked about this... Chester and his family are members of my church at Lilydale. When we found out on Sabbath morning our whole church prayed for him as did many around... I truly believe God pulled him through... it was a VERY serious situation.

Yes, i believe from what you said that Chester is a good man. So is his situation now stabilized?

Last time I heard anything his condition was stable. A friend had been into visit and Chester was talking, so that is a good sign.

His recovery will take many months.

Please still keep him in your prayers and his family as well.

That sounds assuring..will keep pastor chester in my prayer list..

This is email was sent to me from a person who grew up with Chesters wife (Robyn) and he and I worked together many years ago at SHF in Cooranbong. So I have no reason to doubt that it is not the real thing.

"Message from Robyn and Chester Themselves

>Dear Friends -

We're just writing this communication from home - arrived
>home Wednesday afternoon - a lovely place to be after the rigours of
>hospital and from what has transpired in our lives recently. This is just a
>small update from our point of view (we have been grateful to Ken and
>Kingsley and the Union office staff for their faithful communication re).
>
>At this stage it appears that our dramas are all over, other than necessary
>time for recuperation. It has been a challenging time and we are most
>grateful to the Lord for the outcome. According to the most recent and
>significant test, Chester's heart, in spite of a lengthy cardiac arrest, is
>in good and normal working condition and for this we praise the Lord.
>
>This recent test evidenced very minimal heart damage and according to the
>specialist, his heart's capacity and function is so close to what it was
>before the attack, that there will be no noticeable difference. The
>cardiologist also indicated that statistically, relative to the type of
>attack that Chester had, that it would be unlikely to reoccur.
>
>We are still getting our minds around the fact that the heart attack
>happened (in this case it was not a totally clogged artery or arteries, but
>one artery which had some plaque build-up, the plaque split open, a blood
>clot consequently formed and hence the attack). This attack, according to
>the cardiologist, may have been precipitated by excessive exercise -
>Chester had been digging heavy clay with a pick for several days before -
>besides other potential contributing factors.
>
>The response of the experts is that Chester's general health has helped
>enormously in his recuperation, not to mention from our perspective, the
>prayers of so many loving and supportive people. These, the prayers and
>expressions of love and support, have kept us going throughout this
>challenging time. As such, this will be one of the first expressions of
>appreciation from us, but for now, thank you to each of you for such -
>words cannot reflect the depth of love and concern poured out on our behalf
>by our Church colleagues and friends.
>
>Robyn and Chester."

We all praise the Lord and give thanks for the way Chester has recovered.
