Thanks so much, Joseph!
By the grace of God the power remains on here, but it's still cold outside.
It will probably be later in the week before we climb back into normal temps.
Thanks to all the members of OBOB for all your prayers at this time.
You bring a smile to my face, and joy to my heart!

You’re welcome! We didn’t get much of a storm, but we got a lot of snow, so much that it actually BROKE a lot of the trees in our yard. I NEVER expected that to happen in Virginia, where it usually snows once or maybe twice a year.
I hear you! I've got a broken pine tree limb hanging over my main electrical wire as well.

Power's still out at my apartment in Stafford County. They finally assigned a crew to it so hopefully they get it back on by the end of the day. The lows hit about 15-20 degrees last night, luckily the place stayed warm enough for them. If they have to face another night without power they're going to come stay with me in Maryland.

What a mess just a foot of snow created!

I hope they get it resolved to today. I imagine the kids are not happy.

They're doing better than I thought, but I'm sure they're getting bored without access to technology and the internet. She said this morning her son got up at 7am and wanted to go outside to charge his phone (they use the car). It was probably 18 degrees at that time, haha!

They're making the best of it though, she said they might go on an adventure and hike down the road to the WaWa to see if it's open and maybe get some coffee. She told me she wasn't going to try to drive down our driveway because some cars couldn't make it back up with the black ice.

Well that’s good. I figured the kids would be stressing out. Are they adjusting well to their new surroundings?

Their therapist says they are, in his words "they're adjusting better than I expected them too". But I know her son hates the food around here, so I don't know how happy he is. But then, how happy is any 16 year old boy, really? I know I wasn't and I had a great life.

And in his defense, Virginia doesn't stack up very well for food quality compared to California or New York. That's the only good thing about blue states is for some reason they have a lot of good food.

No it doesnt. 12 years of Boston and you could get any kind of ethnic food and it was fantastic. Virginia Beach has some decent tourist restaurants but for the most part, the selection is pretty poor.

I agree. Coming from California where agriculture is in our backyard up and down the state and almost all restaurants have access to fresh meat and produce, it's tough to come to someplace like Virginia which ranks pretty low (I checked).

At least we can kind of commiserate. As New Yorkers they'll never find pizza that can measure up to what they're used to from home, and as a Californian I'll never find a burrito that can hold a candle to what I can get back home.

Ce la vie, amiright?

Thanks be to God! Power has been restored in our neighborhood, my fam has heat and can cook again!
Thank God! So happy for you. I was just watching on the news where Virginians were stranded on I-95.

Yeah my dad and I were talking about that earlier, that could've been me because I was going to go down and fetch them so they could stay at my place. I didn't realize how bad I-95 was, especially (of all places) down in the Stafford area.

Well now they can at least be warm and have food. What's so awesome is about 3mins before she texted me to say it was back on, I had prayed that God would guide the crew workers to restore power so they could have heat and cooked food.

Our God is good!

As a kid this meant we found old cardboard boxes and went sledding down the street or waited for the bus to go by and we grabbed the bumper and went for a ride. We would also bring shovels and shovel walks for money.

We loved it.

Seriously right? Wild weather like this was fun and exciting and made me want to unplug. Their generation just shrugs it off. Sometimes, I despair the species. You know?

I still think snow is exciting! Me and my siblings built a snowman today! And the sunset in the snow looks so beautiful- the snow turns slightly pinkish if you look carefully

Me too, I just wish it didn't take down half the state when it fell. Ha!

My fiancee's kids are your age, and they couldn't seem to care less sadly.

Thats awesome!
I saw a meme once that said Stafford was an hour away from Stafford. That’s true even without bad weather!
