It's a SATA drive though, those are not so cheap. 100g SATA sounds good. I have 150g and am only using 50g. Same CPU but I don't overclock, I'll be doubling the speed with a new CPU some time. Also have an x300SE ATI PCI-e video card, nothing really lags it on best quality setting. 1.5g DDR4 Ram, fastest stuff at Best Buy and costs as much as the computer. Double layer dvd burner. Accepts just about any media type such as compact flash cards and so on. I'm still using my 20 inch CRT on this, it's fairly sharp and very fast, I do my graphics editing on my laptop which is super sharp. Anything else... oh an extra 50g hard drive that is Linux native and an old Sound Blaster Live (SB512) card.Breetai said:Large hard drives are cheap, so why not get a big one when you get a new computer? Especially when someone as knowlegable as penguinrusty (he does seem to know what he's talking about so far!) builds his own system
They're really not much more expensive. It's a SATA drive though, those are not so cheap.
Is that smart? I've bought all of my computers with cash that I've saved up, except for one. I really don't like buying things I can't afford.Oh, no I havent paid it off yet
Yeah, its a business investment. I spend most of my time doing development and administration stuff with it to make money. If it was just to play games than yes, that would be a needless waste/risk. After I pay this off (almost there) Ill be buying a server in the same way as well.Breetai said:Is that smart? I've bought all of my computers with cash that I've saved up, except for one. I can understand that if you MUST have it to run your business NOW. By the time you've paid it off you could have bought the same system for less money or gotten something a lot better for the same amount.Faith_Warrior said:Yeah, its a business investment. Why get a BTX only case (and for my curiosity's sake, which one was it)? You can probably get either/or cases like the Cooler Master Stacker for a lot less than a BTX-only case.forgivensinner001 said:I put one on layaway and Lord willing will be getting it out next weekend.
MSI K8 NEO 4 Platinum
AMD64 3500+
1GB DDR400 (2 x 512MB)
ATI X550 256MB
200GB SATA hdd
ATX case (originally had BTX chosen but the mobo wouldn't fit so I switched to an ATX they had.)
I'll be using everything else from my existing PC and upgrading farther as I can. I'm just thankful and thrilled to be able to play some of the new games I've been missing out on for the last couple of years.
