Blood On Your Hands
Each day you saw me, passed me on, a nod and then walked by
high collared shirts, long sleeves and skirts,
Hair worn to hide my eyes
the little girl with the saddest smile that you had ever known
bruises hidden, hate forgiven
no friends, I played alone
my blood is on your hands
Every time youd go to sleep youd hear my haunting screams
you heard the fights, turned off your lights
and turned up your tv
I was a child, defenseless to the hate of those i loved
you saw my pain but never came
too much was not enough
my blood is on your hands
Behind the scenes a perfect life my pain dripped from my lips
he laid down, placed on my crown
a fathers tainted kiss
He sank into me one final time a pillow to silence cries
i prayed youd care, no one was there
on the night i died
my blood is on your hands
the sirens came late that night, deep in you fear arose
as they left, no consequence
for the path you chose
a broken hope they carried out to bury much too young
black and blue, i know you knew
still you didnt come
my blood is on your hands
No you werent the bearer of my untimely death
yet idle by, you watched me cry
til i took my last breath
As darkness falls and you dream of all i could have been
remember now what comes out
of such indifference
My blood is on your hands
So easily i could have lived if you had only cared
what could have been, should have been
but you just were not there
A lesson taken i hope somehow you will understand
your apathy helped to see
my blood upon your hands
Each day you saw me, passed me on, a nod and then walked by
