Hello brother. I admire your honesty and understand your problem. The important thing is to remember that God loves you. That you are accepted in the Beloved. You are valued by God and a joint heir with Christ. I suggest that you look at the local Church in at least two ways. 1) It is a spiritual hospital where damaged but saved sinners are in the process of recovery and healing. Paul said, he was not perfect but he was 'pressing on towards the goal of the high calling of God in Christ'. So are you and so am I. How do we know but many of the people you mentioned are in the same boat, with similar struggles. We may not see their tears, hear their agonized prayers, view their genuine repentance which is known only to God. Be careful about judging. There is only one perfect, infallible Judge and it's not you or me. As someone has said, "The love of God is broader than the measure of man's mind and the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind. 2) We must never forget that not everyone who attends Church is a christian, a true believer. Some are there seeking the Lord, others are simply tares among the wheat. As it is said of Israel of old, 'Not all in Israel are Israelites in heart', so not everyone in Church is a believer in heart. Just leave others to the infinite wisdom of God and seek and receive the grace He offers to you and me to live in a way that pleases Him. Remember, temptation is NOT sin. It is only sin when we yield to it in our hearts, minds or actions. Satan tempts us to bring out the worst in us, God tests us to bring out the best in us. Live for Jesus with all you heart. God will use your experience in areas where you struggle to help others who desperately look for victory. Let Him use you as a channel of blessing to them. God bless you in your walk with the Lord from this time forward.

Really we should concern ourselves with what the Bible teaches rather then whether any church or denomination fails to live up to the Bible's teachings and standards.

hypocrisy is a real thing but so is deflecting.

if you're caught with your hand in the cookie jar and your defense is to point to others who have had their hand in the cookie jar, it doesn't negate the fact that your hand is in the cookie jar.

Why is there a double standard? Why are people allowed to divorce/remarry, be overweight/obese and they still get to go to heaven yet someone who identifies as gay and marries the same sex is going to Hell? This just doesn’t make sense to me...

Hello Rcphill. Good to meet you. These 'sins' might be more socially acceptable because many pastors and church leaders are divorced and obese. Take one American celebrity preacher for example, John Hagee. Divorced and it is said 30 stones in weight. Greed and manipulation can be seen as good in many churches, the American 'prosperity gospel' for example.

At the end of the day we will each have to give an account to God. Each of us accounting for ourselves, no-one else.

God Bless
