  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

John 20:21 (NIV)

Peace be with you.

This verse could be easily read as "peace within you." A man running from God can never be at peace with God or himself. Psychology and holistic healing may offer temporary relief, but the guilt that a man carries inside will torment him continually. When Cain murdered his brother Abel, he did not repent of his sin but ran from God (Genesis 4:16). Cain then settled in Nod, which in Hebrew means the "land of the wanderers or fugitives." Cain was never again at peace with God and lived a restless and guilt-ridden life.

The peace that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7) is not external peace but inward tranquility that comes from being right with God. A man may commit the most heinous crimes like the thief on the cross. But when he walks in repentance in God's holy light (1 John 1:7), his conscience and soul are at peace with God.

I like this post. The scriptures reminds us to pray for our enemies. Bless those that despitefully use you. Sometimes as I think of my many enemies. I think of how they feel when I choose to be kind to them. Do they feel like hot coals are being heaped on their head. Most of the time I pray they can be at peace with me. More than that they choose to repent and we can become reconciled. The Bible say when a man’s ways are pleasing to God even their enemies will be at peace with them.
