• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Today was the first time I felt like taking narcotics, for legitimate pain. I have never had such severe back pain in my life. The reasons I know about. I plan to call my pain management doctor first thing in the morning. But, today, I was ready to say, "F*** it" to the guidelines in the program and ask for narcotics in the ER. I spoke with my therapist and my sponsor, and was up front about my addictions/alcoholism when I got there, and when I met the Certified Nurse Practitioner. I was prescribed a non-narcotic pain med that has helped in the past, and a non-addicting muscle relaxer.

When the physical pain is bad enough, the recovery takes a back seat, and all I want is relief. So far, so good. The meds are helping.

I have been going nuts the past few weeks with a lingering virus that will not go away, and which includes a nagging cough. And I know a good dollop of Vicks Formula 44 would silence it for hours. Frustration!

I swear by Mucinex, which is alcohol free.

Be careful. I picked up a nasal spray under the Mucines label that did not contain guafenisen (sp?). Otherwise, yes, it's the best sober product on the market,

Thanks for the heads up. I have to Rx nasal sprays I take for allergies each day. That's plenty for me.
