Anyone listen to foreign music? I love Inuyasha and .Hack songs, and just some Japanese songs. I always thought that Japanese music was better than American, but some people from school think I'm wierd when I listen to music I don't understand.
Most Otaku people do. Anyway, if you care to hear it, I frequently enjoy listening to a French rap group called Sniper.

Reggae sometimes - I know Jamaicans speak English, but Jamaican patois can be another language all its own for the uninitiated ear.
My prediction is that in 50 years "Jamaican" will be recognized as another language, in the same way that Italian came from Latin, and now they are 2 different languages. Jamaican pronunciation is very different from English, and in song, the Jamaican/English relationship reminds me of the Spanish/Portuguese relationship. They use some different words too. I would like to study Jamaican grammar and see where that's heading, I'm sure there are some different constructs than in English, and the 2 "dialects" are going to spread farther and farther apart.

Personally I would like to see an Establishment for the Protection of the English language. I am tired of seeing the English language so hideously butchered. "I gotta", "I wanna", "All those things thachyou like", and such. It's time people put well spoken English back on their list of priorities.

whats the big deal? I mean we all know what the real words are... well most of us anyway... sometimes when your msn or writing an e-mail it can be a real pain writing out every single full word... it just makes it easier if some are short formed... and sometimes it fits with the persons personality... I mean I myself like the slang obveiously.. cause being all proper n stuff.. just really isn't me unless i'm in english class of couse lol then I have to... but really it's not getting butcherd, just changed around a bit to fit other people... nothing wrong with you wanting to keep the origional words n all... but just try to see through our point of view too.

NEways... yea I like to listen to German music it's wicked awesome!

I would too, although I doubt it would do much good.

Bad language casts a bad image upon the speaker; language is supposed to be common, easily understood, and eloquently phrased. It's not meant to be a random mismash of words.

I don't like Rammstein that much(actually, I don't). But I think the names of their songs are 'funny'. Du hast(means;you have), Ich will(means; I want). It's just that simple. =P
It seems to be funny and simple on the first view. But "du hast" means - regarding to the lyrics of the whole song - you hate! Yes, they want to be provoking but they are more than that. Have you seen the video to there actual single? It´s discusting!

How could the song imply that it means 'You Hate', when the full line is 'Du hast mich gefragt und ich habe nicht gesagt' - 'You asked me and I said nothing' - and the song is a take on traditional wedding vows? Obviously the song is about a tortured romance, a falling out between two people that love each other, but I've never seen it as implied hate for the other person (even though the way the lyrics are sung is kind of scathing).

Maybe, but their music is still badass. Ich Will is one of my favorite music videos.

And I absolutely love arabic and traditional oreintal music. That stuff is golden.
