I’ve noticed a lot of threads with “Catholics only* at the beginning of their title. Do any of you know why?
Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.
You got my hopes up for a Protestant/Orthodox debate, ah well. I honestly have no idea why I keep seeing thread with *Catholics only*.I’ve noticed a lot of threads with “Catholics only* at the beginning of their title. Do any of you know why?
I get into plenty of debates without starting one up intentionally. You got my hopes up for a Protestant/Orthodox debate, ah well. I honestly have no idea why I keep seeing thread with *Catholics only*.
(Guessing) Remember the animals in George Orwell's 1984 ?I’ve noticed a lot of threads with “Catholics only* at the beginning of their title. Do any of you know why?
You mean Orwell's Animal Farm brother(Guessing) Remember the animals in George Orwell's 1984 ?
Some were "more equal " than others ?
They didn't want anyone to rock the boat with truth or facts or reality.
They want to keep it tight in their own caucus so to speak without interruption. Meaning the issues they discuss are purely Roman Catholic issues, they only want Roman Catholic responses.I’ve noticed a lot of threads with “Catholics only* at the beginning of their title. Do any of you know why?
The following are Catholics only issues? They want to keep it tight in their own caucus so to speak without interruption. Meaning the issues they discuss are purely Roman Catholic issues, they only want Roman Catholic responses.
Now if they start a Catholic only thread and start discussing other denominations that I believe would be a violation of the forum rules.
Au contraire, posts that are made in fellowship and do not attack Catholic doctrine are permitted--or are supposed to be permitted--by forum rules, just as is the case with all the other denominational forums where, incidentally, Catholics often contribute.Just a guess, if the threads are in the Catholic forum, then arguments by those outside the faith group are against forum guidelines.
Which explains why the word "arguments" was utilized, intentionally.Au contraire, posts that are made in fellowship and do not attack Catholic doctrine are permitted--or are supposed to be permitted--by forum rules, just as is the case with all the other denominational forums where, incidentally, Catholics often contribute.
What do you suppose they talk about? It would be best not to assume anything nefarious on the part of those who post threads marked this way, seeing as how they are still publicly viewable and, again, many will allow anyone to participate if they are respectful and do not denigrate Catholic beliefs and practices in the course of voicing whatever disagreement they may have with a particular stance taken by the RCC or its faithful. (In other words, "My church does X differently than this" is probably fine, but "You're all a bunch of pagan pope-worshipers" or something is not.)

That's what you think "Catholics only" means, huh?It would be best not to assume anything nefarious on the part of those who post threads marked this way, seeing as how they are still publicly viewable and, again, many will allow anyone to participate if they are respectful and do not denigrate Catholic beliefs and practices in the course of voicing whatever disagreement they may have with a particular stance taken by the RCC or its faithful.
"human nature"That's fine, but it doesn't offer any explanation for the practice of labelling routine topics as *Catholics only*
A moderator in one of those threads posted that the "Catholics only" in the title cannot and does not restrict the non-Catholics from posting. That was last week I think or whenever, I don't remember and didn't try to remember - it wasn't or didn't seem important then....That's what you think "Catholics only" means, huh?
To me, it means that only Catholics can post, but I would be interested to learn if someone else knows better.
