I have no problem with MAJOR treatment being mandated but beyond that I see no reason for it to be mandated. As someone born into a country with public healthcare, I don't view public healthcare as a handout. That is something Americans are conditioned into thinking. We pay taxes, those taxes should be used to fund vital things in the community and what is more vital than health? Nothing. But then again, 'healthcare' these days is mainly just pharmaceuticals, which is an extremely corrupted industry.. but still, if I need emergency treatment, I do not see why I should be billed for it. I think healthcare is a basic right in societies where we pay so much tax. It's not like you are getting things for nothing. Handing over $250 in tax a week, plus all the random tax I pay for things I have to buy, well it should benefit me in some way.
Whether USA has private or public healthcare or both, government is still in control of all of it anyway. I think there should always be the option of public healthcare (you can have public or private in Australia) for people who cannot afford to buy private healthcare (or who don't get it as a job perk)
amenI don't understand why some think that the same incompetent people who run the local post office, DMV, and Social Security office should be in charge of our healthcare. If there's one thing you can learn from history, it's that government rarely ever makes things better. I find this very scary and poorly planned.

I know some doctors will not take government insurance took me a while to figure that out.TBH, over 85% of Americans are covered now with either their private insurance or Medicare/Medicaid. The change to Obamacare is a mandate that all must participate in that specific program, and it increases the cost of private insurance significantly. So much so that many doctors are opting out of certain insurances and many insurance are leaving some states. What they should have done is improved the programs that we have now instead of introducing the monstrosity called Obamacare that doesn't solve anything and increases our debt by a few more trillion dollars.
The problem is, this is a free country (or it was), and the way this is being shoved through is nothing short of tyranny.

But we were promised that not only could we keep our plans and doctors if we wanted to, but that the average family would save $2,500 a year on premiums.
At what point can we say "LIAR" and have people acknowledge the truth of it???
Also heard today that Obama is going to be speaking to the younger crowd, and informing them of the "importance" of having insurance, even if you're young, healthy, single, and don't need it. Know why? So the gov't can get you into its clutches as early as possible! A young, healthy person with no dependents does not NEED insurance if they decide they can do without it!
